Hey guys, I'm back for some advise!

I ordered a brand new HP dv5t last week. The main things I plan to use my new laptop for is mainly graphic design (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, etc) and a bit of gaming (CoD4).

My main regrets at the moment is choosing the 250GB 5400 RPM drive and the lack of bluetooth. When I placed my order I was able to use the 30% off coupon, however it seems like the coupon has since gone invalid. So I guess my question is how big of a deal is having a 5400 RPM drive and no bluetooth? Should I be worried? The other thing is the fingerprint reader, it seems really handy and I also regret not getting it!

So I guess my question is, how useful is bluetooth and fingerprint reader, and how big of a performance loss am I getting by not having a 7200rpm drive?

    I appreciate any feedback/advice,

    Dave

From reading various sites, it seems like the 7200 RPM drives make quite a big difference. Is it pretty easy to buy a HD off newegg and swap it in? Will it affect my warranty in any way?

Throughput on a 5400RPM drive is pretty good, but seek times are faster on a a 7200RPM drive, which is what makes it seem faster.

I had the Fingerprint reader on my T42. I never really used it or the bluetooth for that matter.

Thanks for the fast response, makes me feel a bit better :p

Other question I have is the HDMI. From what I read there are HDMI ports right, does that mean I can hook it up to my HD TV and play movies off my laptop? Do I need the 9600/9200 Nvidia cards to accomplish this?

    I have a very conservatively configured dv5t, with P8400, x4500 IG,
and 5400RPM 250GB HDD. I use Photoshop CS3 on a DAILY basis and
it works great. I have zero problems with big image files, and very little
    lag-time.

Actually, I am quite amazed at how much performance I've been getting
with my little dv5t. It's actually more powerful than my custom XP Pro
desktop, running a 3.4Ghz P4 processor and OCZ Gold RAM.

    That's shouldn't be surprising.

i have fingerprint on two ibm models i own - an x41 and an x41 tablet. i never really used the fingerprint apps because i have had some difficulty with them in the past.

the fingerprint software with the hp models is awesome! you can log into websites by just using your fingerprint - no more typing in 35 user names and 35 passwords.

just make sure you remember what your passwords are in case you go to a machine without a fingerprint reader =D

but yeah, i am going to take a look at my ibm's and see how i can get fingerprint website logins to work on them.... but i'm giving all my attention to my dv7t which i have not put down in 3 days since i got it. LOL

    go with the fingerprint reader.
