Can someone link me to the best thread of removing all the unnecessary junk of my HP like Vongo and other programs. I don't know which programs to remove, so is there a list of what junkware that should be removed? I don't want to reformat, just want to delete all the stuff thats eating away at my ram.

You're all set! Good luck! ;^) -
The only proper way to remove all the HP stuff is to make a clean system reinstall. I have a lot of free space on my DV9500 after doing that, with all the software I usually install.

Most of the stuff you need to remove can easily be done from the Add/Remove programs menu in Vista. I removed Vongo, all the internet apps and offers, muVee prodcuer, and the Office 2007 Trial. However, I ended up just reformatting the HD and re-installing Vista Basic. It made a difference, but not a noticeable one. Just make sure you uninstall all the crap you don't need (and there sure is alot of it on these laptops) and remove some startup items to help bootup time.

Agree, just use Add/Remove to removed junk. Then go to Windows Explorer and delete unwanted directories such as internet services. You can backup the swsetup directory and delete that too afterwards to gain some HD space. If you do a clean install make sure you download the drivers from HP before doing so. After all that get a registry cleaner, ie ccleaner to clean the registry of junk entries.
