I downgraded my dv6700t today from Vista to XP.

I've tried to install 2 different sets of drivers from HP site...
The MS UAA Bus Driver for HD audio and the Convent (sp?) Audio Driver.

No luck! I can't hear anything! I've already checked the volume profile, and nothing is there either...

    Please help!

    EDIT: Sorry, figured out myself!

If the above drivers I mentioned don't work for you either, then if you backed up the SWSetup stuff, you're in luck! Go to "drivers" and then "Audio" and install. Worked for me!
