    I just installed a 300mbps router but my dv7 4295us still connects @ 54mbps
    did I miss something? I have the intel 1000 wireless card and it is set for wireless n. any Ideas? also on my network another router shows up that is not mine .

    It's probably the Intel 1000 wireless card.

    My dv6t-6100 CTO connects to my N router at 65.0 Mbps with frequent drops to 58.0 Mbps.

    I figured it out, you must use wsk2 aes security on both ends, wep and tkip will not work and default to g band speeds
