I bought a Compaq Presario V3133AU notebook from a HP reseller in Trivandrum in November 2006. In December 2006, after one month of expiry of warranty, it went dead. When I enquired at the reseller's office, they told that almost all the 3133AU systems that they sold were coming back with the same complaint exactly after the expiry of the warrranty period. I got it repaired in December after paying Rs. 6000. In January, it again had the same complaint and I had to repair it spending an equal amount. Now in March, it is again showing the same complaint. The complaint is that the screen blurs and then the system goes dead.
I do not know how long I am going to continue with this process. The worst part is that, I have exams coming up in April, and this system is affecting my exams also, as it had affected my January exams. I feel Compaq was a bad choice.

So are you saying I am fooled? I have been using my Compaq for the last 3 years. I have had 1 problem...fix as quickly as the problem came.
Thats the problem with some people...to them, one problem means that the company is crap. Forgetting the fact that there are millions of people out there who are perfectly satisfied with their products.
Ok so what isn't made in China nowadays? Are you saying every Chinese made product is prone to break within the next 20 minutes? Is every chinese made product absolute s***? Ok, so the Intel CPUs that are going to be made in China are also going to break? Oh I am sorry your TV is made in China or your microwave oven or your AC unit. They are probably going to break soon too by the looks of it.
Yeah Lenovo customers are satisfy, wait in minute...where are they made nowadays? You tell me -
Was this a mobo failure due to the heat issues seen on early dv2000/dv6000 units? I notice that the Compaq's latest BIOS update changes the fan algorithms just like the Pavilion counterparts............

Check if its in the list of extended warranty repair service for models that were affected with the problematic mobo's

I can personally confirm the flaw with HP's Compaq V3000 series notebooks. I've seen many sent in for repairs for the same motherboard/graphics chipset problem.
In fact, my friend's V3000 just had a dead motherboard last weekend and I had to book it in for service last week. HP should issue a recall for this model or I'd expect a class lawsuit as they are very unreliable units.
On top of that, HP's consumer tech support in India is just a joke. They kept on asking if I can perform a BIOS update when I kept telling them the notebook can't even power on, so how am I supposed to even do a BIOS update. He then proceeded to ask me to reinstall Windows despite acknowledging that the notebook isn't powering on (do they understand the term?). These people have 0 intelligence, seriously. Exasperated, I gave up and just let them run over their script (while I went off to make coffee) and returned to tell them it still doesn't work. Only then did they organise the repairs.
HP's enterprise support, on the other hand, is more reliable and don't attempt to pull such bull**** on me. As I've said before, HP's support level is literally what you paid for. They value their enterprise accounts (knowing how much these are worth), but don't really care about their consumer end. Ironically, HP's current PSG division is doing well BECAUSE of its consumer lineup like the successful Pavillion and Presario notebooks.
Before anyone jump to conclusions, I should add that I am not your regular ignorant HP customer. I've had much experience in dealing with HP, maintains extensive service and support agreements with them and have owned a lot of HP equipment over the years. I was at my most polite while communicating with them, but sometimes these tech support people are just a joke when it gets directed to their consumer division. -
HP quality is tough to beat, to be honest , I was really nervous when bought it but it was a really really good product.
I mean build quality is probably the best or next to Dell Latitude, and HP customer service at least where I am at now is the best of all.
When I got my computer hinge problem- I got a bit scratch on it (was my fault not theirs) , they came to my house and picked it up and retruned it in 3 days.
Who else can do this ?
Also , now HP is giving us FREE 1 year insurance plan here in ASIA.
Oh and to be fair Acer has the second best service in Asia but Acer products especially build qaulity are not good at all ..........So basically HP is the best brand by far you can buy when you are out of US.
When you are in the USA , Dell is the best of all with the best customer service in the world and CTO system.
So bacially stick with US brands , but no need to care about where they are made, I actually prefer made in China over Taiwan or Japan.
Never buy Compaq V3133AU
