Hi,
I just thought I would mention this. I did not see it in the news forum nor on the HP coupon sites. I was out on HP's shopping site and noticed that they are offering a $100 INSTANT rebate on customized zt3000's and zd7000's. However, you can still get the $100 mail-in rebate too, if you order by 9/1/2004 (MIR expires 9/1). This is a $200 savings. (NOTE: There is a $50 mail-in rebate on the zt3000 good until December, 2004, if you miss the $100 mail-in one.) If you are a student, you can also get the student discount through APP (I tested this under my student ID) plus the two rebates (the instant and one of the mail-ins). So, this is even more savings.
The zt3000 seems to be lower in price too. I ordered a zt3000 back in July. My configuration is now $24 cheaper (before discounts) today than it was then, plus this includes the 512MB RAM being only one stick (now the default). I would have had to pay $50 extra for the one stick option.
I just thought I would be a good HP owner and notify potential owners of the savings. I know the savings (the APP, a $100 coupon and $100 MIR) helped me make the decision to go with HP back in July.
FYI...The Compaq R3000T (dedicated) and the X1000 have $50 instant rebates.

that's great, thanks for the heads up on these rebates!

I am under a big dilemma. I ordered a zt3000 just a week ago and now they have this instant rebate order and a few other discounts, anyway, my current price is coming out almost a $150 cheaper than what it was before.
Does HP credit u the difference... Do they have like a 30 day policy to provide the price difference is other discounts come into play?
I could still order a second laptop at this price and just return the first one when it does come in. But I am not sure of how reliable this refund system is.
Can someone suggest anything?
I have only one day... as NeedToKnow2 said, the mail in rebate expires as of first of september so... I am sure this is some sort of glitch, HP probably didnt expect both rebates to come into play at the same time...

i'm having the similar situation.
i ordered a R3000z, and saw this deal the next day...
I'm thinking of ordering a zt3000 today, and return the R3000z after it arrived...
but I'm concerned of the return and refund... -
I called in this morning and I talked to them. They credited $100 back to my account. No return/re-buy necessary. I am in love with HP right now...
$100 cheaper than what I expected. Its great. -
I am glad to hear that you were able to get the refund without having to return the unit. I hope you get your unit now and there are no problems.

HP changed (or extended) the choose_cool_hp $100 rebate from 9/1 to 12/1.
On the MIR page, you can even see 2/1/04 to 12/1/05!!!
but when you look into the pdf, it says "between February 1, 2004 and December 1, 2004."
Either way, they have extended the offer!
I rushed on the 31st of August ordering, hah, but now they extended the $100 MIR!
Should I be safe to use this rebate form, or use the one the previous one?
(02/1-09/1 or 02/1-12/1?) -
You should be able to use either form. I printed out and read parts of the new one today. It looks like the other just with different dates. I guess they are getting ready for the Christmas rush and catching the late back-to-schoolers. Either way, we as HP owners still get a 'cool deal'. [8D]
Paperback, are you staying with the R3000z? -
haha, thanks for asking, NeedToKnow2.
I think i'm gonna wait until they both arrived, and check them out!!
cuz when I saw the zt3000 deal, I was very excited, and really did wanna get it!
I would really like to keep the Athlon 64 3400+, but the lighter, sleeker, thinner, power-efficient, and a bit better GPU suits better my need now.(I'm not saying R3000z is not good enough, I do like the R3000z even I haven't got it yet, I think I will wait until the 64-bit OSs are more common.)
I was even more struggling after I went to circuitcity to have my hands on them again.
But the more portable and battery time of zt3000 makes my decision, since I'll be going to school and back home every week.
I know the Athlon64 performs superb! but I gotta make a decision...T_T
so, i wait after I check them out!!! -
Wow, both laptops coming for you to check out side by side to your home. That must be nice.[
] I had to go to BB and CC for about two hours each and play with the zt3000 and Toshiba m30-s456 before making my choice final decision.
Well, good luck on your choice. Hey, let me know what you think of each machine. I really like my ZT and its portability. I do wish it could be a little lighter, but I love the widescreen. It will definitely come in handy for the work I do on Execl and Access. It is not real heavy, but not the lightest, smallest out there either. I have tried out the mobility by hauling it to work. It will definitely work out when I go back to school. The AMD is a good chip too. My desktop has an AMD (2 1/2 years old though). I am sure the new AMD 64's are going to be awesome.
