HP just posted a rather attractive 33% off coupon that works on the dv6t-7000 Quad and dv7t-Quad Editions. Here are the details of that coupon:

Example pricing is the dv6t-7000 Quad Edition can be configured with high end specs of an Nvidia 650m 1GB card, Intel Core i7-3610QM, 1920 x 1080 Full HD display and 1TB Hd for $921.24 after using the NBP9668 33% off coupon.

There's also another Pavilion coupon for 25% off any notebook configured $599 or more:

question--if we already ordered this last week, how do we get the difference refunded since this coupon would save me more money than when i purchased it last week. any advice??
-
Easy to do, just call HP sales support or use chat and tell them you found a better deal using a coupon and you want to apply this new coupon instead of the old. If they refuse, tell them you're just going to reorder and refuse delivery on the one you ordered previously. They'll quickly change their minds and give you the savings. It's best to configure it in your cart and apply the coupon, then if you're logged in they can see your cart and the price you have there.

Thanks for the post Andrew!

I tried both the 33% off and 25% off codes on a DV6t-7000 quad, and it says that neither is valid.

Does the 33% coupon have to be a certain price? It's not working for the dv6 that I built but the 25% works
-
-
I had already bought my dv6t but it wasn't yet delivered when the 33% coupon came out. I then called their sales team, as suggested here, and told them about the coupon and they were happy to refund me the difference. So now I have a shiny new dv6t quad $160 cheaper than I originally paid (with the $400 off coupon)

920 is a nice price for a loaded i7.
Bestbuy briefly had a lenovo almost fully loaded with GTX660 for 900, but it didn't have fhd lcd. -
-
FHD is an error. it actually does not have fhd.
it seems there isn't that big of a difference between gt650m ddr5 and gtx660m.
lenovo Y580 with FHD costs $1100. So this dv6t is the better buy
I wish there were a 33% coupon for dv6t non-quads.
a core i5 + gt650m + FHD = $1100 list price. 33% off would make it $737, and that would be a decent buy. -

Yeah unfortunately you can't stack the student discount with any coupons.

I asked HP to refund a $68 difference between the coupon I used on 7/10/12 for 2 dv7t's, and the new 33% coupon that came out on 7/11.
They refused and said coupons are time sensitive.
I didn't call, but used e-mail instead.
first time HP buyer.
So far their CS stinks. -
The problem is that the 33% coupon does not work for the extended warranty added with the machine. It actually removes the instant 30% savings originally placed on the extended warranty. Any work around that?
Also, is there a big difference between the base quad core and the 3720QM? Is it worth the money to upgrade it?
Does anyone have a clue of the included RAM is the faster 1666Mhz?
Last, does the oversized 9-cell battery look too bad? -
2) No, don't spend the money to upgrade to the 3720QM, not worth it.
3) I think you mean 1600MHz memory, and the answer to that is yes. To be precise, it comes with Samsung 1600 MHz DDR3 memory.
4) It's big and elevates the laptop, I don't know if that means it's ugly. From a functional perspective it helps elevate the laptop and improve cooling, assuming you don't use it in your lap that is. Consider it adds about .5 lbs of weight too.
Good luck!
