I just got my CTO 9700t yesterday the 18th and upgraded the bios. I am a little concerned because my notebook has had a couple of issues.

First I put a movie into the dvd drive and at first it did not find the movie. Then after another try it finally found the movie and I proceeded to play. Eveything was fine until I pressed the eject button and the computer would not close the program.

Another issue that I am having it that it does lag when opening, closing some programs and sometimes gets stuck in (not responding) and will not let me close it via the task manager.

Also, I put in a data cd and was copying my pictures off of it to the laptop and 1/2 way through the drive stopped spinning and reading the information.

Should I be concerned or are these easy fixes?

Have you cleared out the bloat yet? I'd also suggest looking at the OS section of the forums and doing the Vista tweaks to improve performance and resolve conflicts. I have a very similar setup and my laptop rocks but I did have to do some work to get it up to par.

    Cheers,

i did the manual uninstall in the control panel but i guess i will have to do the manual clean-install to get it up and working correctly.

i can fix the hanging issue but i thought the dvd issue was a little weird.

If you do the vista tweaks it will help you clean up the bloat as well as statup programs (ie msconfig). I have noticed some lag when I boot up and immediately try to play a DVD, I use Zonealarm and I've noticed Media Center likes to connect to the internet everytime I play a DVD so I've required it to ask for permission prior to connecting to the internet and this seems to help some. I still need to give the laptop a minute or so to finish booting up from a cold boot before it will play a dvd or explore a cd.

Sounds like your laptop is overloaded with bloatware that is crippling the performance of your system.

The only real way to get it up to scratch (maximum possible performance) is to perform a clean install using the guide here and after completing that tweak Vista using this guide.
