There is new version of BIOS available on HP website. Its supposed enhancements include

*Adds "Factory installed OS" information to the Setup menu.

I see it listed for 6700t notebook. So it must be available for 9700t too. Has anyone tried it yet??

I have posted a thread of this release already at the following link:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=267928

I have had this new BIOS release on my dv6500t for several days now and there's not much improvement from version F.53. There is obviously now that "factory installed OS" information in the BIOS setup menu...which is not that informative or useful for the most part.

Is this for the Nvidia Fiasco? Does the fan come on more often?

The F.57 BIOS release does not contain improvements to the fan algorithm; it just adds information about the factory installed OS in your BIOS setup menu.

The previous releases, F.51 and F.53, did update the system's fan algorithm to help reduce the likelihood of future issues. However, it is not clear as to whether they are related to the problems that NVIDIA had announced recently. The fan algorithm updates are also included in the F.57 release, since BIOS updates are cumulative.

You know, it's wierd, I got my DV9700T on April 10th and the current BIOS version is F.52 which isn't even listed on the HP site.....
