Just an FYI there is a new BIOS update out F.3D
I checked and saw it is available for both the Dv9 and Dv6 series notebooks and for the Dv2000 series there is F.39 which also updates the fan algorithm. So hopefully this will fix the fan being on to much or to little.

    Fixes

Updates the fan control algorithm of the system to reduce the likelihood of future system issues.
Fixes issue where the touchpad scroll function does not work on some notebooks.
Fixes issue where the battery fails.

Theses are for the AMD versions. The F39 for the dv2000z and V3000z basically changes the fan controls to run it always. Ofcourse this makes the system run cooler but a bit noisy. Depending on how sensitive you are to fan noise it may or may not be a good choise to upgrade to.
