those who download the new bios F.34 for dv2000 ...
what about it ??
do i have to install it ??
is it better than the old bios F.26 ??
-
is that knew Bios for both the DV2000t/z or just for the t?

It gives you the option to enable AMD-V and changes the BIOS font.
It says that it bumps up the HT Bus to 400/800, but CPU-Z says it's still 200. -
AMD and Intel have separate BIOS files, they cannot have the same one for both platforms. so make sure it has your CPU brand (intel or AMD) before you download and upgrade.
EDIT: This bios is for the dv2000z which means it is AMD only! Intel users DONT use this. -

Thanks, for the answer. Does it supposed to fix other issues? or that is only thing it is intended for?
-
I just checked it and i ddint see this, if this is true could you provide a link for the page?

for both . -
The BIOS update for Intel based systems has different change logs so they arent exactly the same BIOS even though they share the same number.

The new ones are capable of having half multipliers. You multiply the reference core spped(200MHz) with the multipliter. So if your Turion is the TL-50/52 with a clock speed of 1.6GHz, then the multiplier used is 8x(200X8). If it is new 65nm vrevision G 1.9GHz(TL-58) then the multiplier used is 9.5x(200X9.5). Thats what is behind the 100MHz increaments with the new processors.
The HTT speeds are also derived in a similar way 200MHz*4x=800MHz. Performance is not affected a whole lot since the bandwidth limit is not usually reached during daily usage. So, it really doesnt hurt in most cases if the HTT is downclocked to 400MHz when on battery but it does help in running a bit cooler and save little bit of power. -
Haha, my bad. I was looking at Bus Speed, not HT Link. My apologies for being a retard.
So is it a problem with the BIOS if I'm on battery, my CPU is at half speed (800 MHz), but the HT Link is still 800 MHz?
One more question on this topic. Does this reported HT Link affect anything beside the CPU? (RAM, integrated graphics, etc.) -
P.S You might want to start a new thread if you have more questions, we are going a bit off topic for this thread. -
hmmm no wonder i dindt notice it, if u click on XP, it will only give u the F26 BIOS, under Vista it gives you both.

Well, I can say that at least the Intel version of F.34 seems to have a little bug that I wrote about a few days ago on these forums.
My laptop came with F.26 preinstalled. Immediately after upgrading to F.34, I lost the "Lid Close Action" option in power management settings. When I closed the lid on the laptop, it only shut off the screen, but the laptop did not go in the standby mode. Anyway, I reverted to F.26, and the problem went away.
The ironic thing is that one of the fixes listed under the F.34 BIOS revision states: "Fixes intermittent issue where screen resolution may be changed after resuming from Standby mode by opening the notebook lid."
I contacted the HP support to report this issue and they sent me instructions how to reinstall Power Management for Windows XP, while I specifically stated I had Vista Premium. I am not upgrading back to F.34 unless someone can confirm that the below procedure works for them under Vista, and enables them to select the Close Lid Action under F.34:
"After upgrading the BIOS reinstall the Power Management as given below:
1. Right-click My Computer.
2. Select Properties.
3. Click Hardware.
5. Click Device Manager.
6. Click the plus (+) sign next to System Devices.
7. Right-click the ACPI Fixed Features power button and select
Uninstall.
8. Restart the system.
On restarting the system, Windows will automatically detect and install
Power Management on the computer." -
Ya know i think this forum should have some guidelines.......if ya call HP support, DO the opposite of what they say cuz theyre usually wrong
