Have done many searches for this here, Google, and no luck. Just purchased (2 weeks ago) new DV7 to replace my 3.5 year old DV7T. Was doing some gaming tests with Darkplaces/Quake, and stumbled across a strange issue.

Although the touchpad really isn't a prime device for FPS games, I got used to it with my old lappie and was playing the same games on the new one, and was able to repeat the issue.

When playing a FPS style game, and using the arrow keys for movement, when using the touchpad at the same time, the touchpad input seemed to stop working.

To explain, holding forward (up), and strafe left (left arrow) at the same time, then using the touchpad to aim at targets (and shoot), or even just holding down the up arrow and using the touchpad to move character's field of view, the touchpad input stops working.

By releasing the movement keys, the touchpad would resume working (i.e. looking around the game).

Hard to explain but anyone who has played a FPS using the arrow keys and touchpad at the same time will know what I mean.

I have never seen this in a laptop before. Realizing for more hardcore gaming a seperate keyboard and mouse are prime, but sometimes, for a quick match, using the lappie only is quicker.

I know some keyboards ghost, and/or limit how many keys you can press (it can register) at a time, but it doesn't seem to be a keyboard issue only, but some interplay between the two.

I found ONE post that mentioned this via Google search, with exactly the same problem. Anyone else experienced this ?? Certain games only ??

xAcid9, that sounds like a winner, will post back after I try it. I realize why they probably have that ENABLED as a default, to cut down on customer complaints about jumping/erratic touchpad operation, but WOW, I wonder if they just EXCHANGED complaints from that, to people trying to game on it, with the issue I mentioned.

xAcid9, that worked for me. :) Much appreciated. I had looked everywhere (almost), for anything that would solve my problem, and you nailed it. Although I'm still getting used TO the touchpad, and typically game on my gaming rigs w./ mice, it's never too late to come home, and de-stress with some old school quake, on the new DV7 on the couch. Sorry for the quality had to cut it down to make it fit. Original was done running DarkPlaces w./ most visuals almost maxed @ 1920/1080. Fraps is still a hog, so some compromises were made for recording.
