    Hi,

I just placed an order for an Envy 15t, and now I have to wait for it, w/a build Date of July 12th :( :

    • Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
    • Intel i7-820QM 1.73 GHz Quad Core CPU
    • 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 500GB 7200RPM SATA HD
    • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 Graphics Card
    • 15.6" Full HD LED HP Ultra Brightview Widescreen Display (1920x1080)
    • Webcam
    • Intel Wireless-N Card w/Bluetooth
    • HP Keyboard
    • One 6 Cell Lithium Ion Polymer Battery + One 9 Cell HP Envy Slim Fit Extended-Life Notebook Battery
    • System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I plan to upgrade the memory to at least 8 GB. Does the BIOS have any memory settings, and if not, does it see and adjust for faster memory? example: DDR3 1866 (PS3 15000) Cas 9 vs. DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Cas 5

Also, is there any performance gain or loss by filling all the memory slots vs. to filling just two (2) of them.

Is the BIOS just your typical laptop style or does it have any tuneable features, including overclockng?

Is the CPU easy to get to?

I have a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). Will there be any advantage(s) to installing it over the Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) that it will come with?

Does the Envy 15t come w/the mounting hardware inside for a second HD? I'll adding either a second HD or an SSD.

Any detailed reviews anywhere that shows the insides?

Finally, what does the "t" stand for in the 15t?

As soon as I get it, I'll do a review of it. I see lots of G1 reviews, but no G2.

    Thx.

the motherboard adjust the memory according to what processor you have, so yeah you can say that its BIOS settings, so... you're stuck for now with 1333 CAS 9

This is not a desktop. the oc feature of the i7 is only for those.

Yes, but what for? you won't find the i7 920xqm

You are asking, so no you won;'t find anything that is more useful to you.

No you have to buy that form hp, or when you order the pc. Which would be much more money wise gains of performance to have as in contrast to your cpu increase. BTW to fit in 2 HDDs you'll need 1.8'' drives.

To add one more thing, the price of SSDs at the config options are the best price per gb out there for any SSD drive, with a price of 1.71 per gb (for the dual 320gb) it is a bargain, even kingston ssds are not that cheap.

Some systems will see the faster memory. The question I had was what the Envy had for a BIOS. If it came with any adjustments for the memory, or it's your typical plain Jane laptop BIOS. I've noticed that the memory manufacturers are coming out w/performance laptop memory chips, especially Kingston.

On some performance laptop systems, when the Intel Extreme series are installed, they do allow allow for o/cing.

As for finding an Intel Extreme series right now, you're right, but later they should become available, especially on eBay.

since you got the i7 try to read what is the memory bus of the chip, this will answer your question
