I just got my Envy 17 in the mail today and have it plugged in now for 30-45 minutes, "charging." For one, I can't even tell if it is charging or not because there is no light on the charger, and the box on the charger nor the laptop itself is feeling warm. I cannot power on the laptop either. Does it really need to charge for a few hours before it can even turn on? And how else can I tell if it is even charging?

I am just praying I didn't get something faulty I've been waiting so long for...

There should be a little red/orange light on the right side of the laptop where you plug in the cord...

Mine didn't turn on at first. I called, and they had me do some combination of holding down the Beats button and the power button after removing the battery. That fixed it. If you call, you may find out that it's no real problem at all.

Did the same thing and it resolved it - thank you for responding! I got on a tech support call and they were prepared to start coordinating replacement. I had to ask them "So there is no troubleshooting ideas you could have me try?" and while they put me on hold to research, I ended up trying this "power drain" option you described first - holding down the power and the Beats button for about 2 minutes. Sure enough, it powered on and started charging like normal, and I promptly hung up on the Hold music. :)

That being said, how has your experience been with the charging and battery? Does yours seem to be perfectly normal?
