Hey guys i went to my local computer store (JB-HIFI) and i was just checking out the envy 14. I was talking to a staff working there and he said that the Envy is on clearance as there will be a newer model coming out in about a month which would replace the current envy 14. Has anyone else heard about this supposedly new model??
-
-
Someone on here said that in October HP is coming out with something new for the envy, some people think it might be the new touchpad.
-
well i hope they release a 2nd generation envy 14 with a better battery.
-
They just came out with the envy not even 2 months ago, I highly doubt the 2nd gen is here anytime in 2010.
-
well i posted the same thing on another forum and this person replied,
The JB guy here told me the same thing !
He didn't have all the info , but he thinks the new model would be a Higher i5 CPU with more RAM (6 to 8 GB ) and/or SSD and the price rise would be "marginal " ..(his words)
DDR3 SODIMM PC8500-4GB 1066Mhz is going for $160 a piece on Staticice
I think I'll be waiting ...
The current Envy 14 on sale now may well be an 'OLD' model ..Technology changes so fast !
so dunno. -
With the current Envy 14 series being just an half year old the changes to the new series will be minimum I guess. I think is will more of a new revision than a new model and thus offering the newer series of CPU (460m vs. 450m for example). You'll see the same thing happening with Sony or other brands all the time. They add a slightly newer CPU, they add a digit to the model number. This allow them to keep their prices almost constant.
-
I few days ago the Envy 14 beats edition was listed as $999 and had some new CPU options available like the i5 560M and 580M. It went back to normal after a few minutes though, so maybe that's what they're doing for the refresh?
-
A new Envy 14 has appeared today at Future Shop in Canada. They have both versions 14-1050ca and the new 14-1150.ca in stock. The 5200 RPM 640GB drive has been replaced by a 7200 RPM drive, and the i5-430 has been updated to the i5-460. Also the 14-1150ca doesn't have Paint Shop Pro. The 1150ca is listed at $400 less than the 1050ca, so it's possible it has the 1366x768 screen.
-
I justed ordered (couple days ago) my Envy Beats 14 w/ the i5-460m. -
-
Well... I just had to RMA an Envy (great, harddrive failed 1 day after I received it!) and I was told to wait until September 29 to call for a replacement.... because they were introducing 'new model numbers' but 'nothing big'. So yeah, something's going on.
-
PURE SPECULATION :
The original envy 15 was introduced in a previous fall, shortly after ~3-5 months time there was the 2nd gen refresh no?
4830 became the 5830, brand new gpu in a relatively short time after the initial models rolled out.
I think the new series models might have the new amd gpu chips inside based off the updated chips hitting in October. -
I also purchased a i5-460m Envy 14 Beats. I got it for $899 with the student discount. I checked the next morning, and they raised the price of the Envy 14 Beats by $100... lol!
-
-
Ugh, I just shipped off my notebook on Friday for an exchange. The exchange definitely hasn't been built; I'll call HP up to see if I can get more information about the new model.
-
Anyone know if the 460m fixes the whine. I know the 450m had the problem.
-
It fueled a whole bunch of speculation about the new 6000 series GPUs.
Bronsky -
I'd do a return in a heartbeat if this is credible. -
could we do a return and upgrade or how does that work... having to buy whole nother laptop just for upgraded parts seems like a hassle lol... so how would we go up doing that?
-
I bought mine at Costco, so I have 90 days to decide.
-
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Hmm, if the E14 refreshes with a considerably better GPU, I might be buying a new mobo and upgrading myself. I've already got one of the lower-binned 5650's, so moving to a faster, better-quality card would be a big boost, and I've heard rumors of the Radiance screen being discontinued entirely, so it would be a "best of both worlds" sort of deal...
-
I highly doubt they will significantly overhaul the Envy 14 with Sandy Bridge being this close. I'm willing to bet HP will wait for SB untill they put the new AMD GPU's in there.
Like Vin87 says, it's probably a minor CPU/RAM upgrade to retain the current price-levels.
The BIG question is: What will we see at CES? -
Eh, I suppose a minor refresh is a little more likely at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bigger one with the new GPU's in December or January, though.
-
Would the free music promotion's expiration on October 11th be relevant to this? Would the obligation to keep the laptop after registering for the promotion also be telling?

If someone has some solid info about this, please let me know as I will be buying one soon.

i order that one but it got declined so we will see if i get it after some complaining
-
-
That datasheet says ENVY 14-1160SE is this the "new" envy or there will be a better one with a higher end GPU or maybe USB 3.0 or something else apart from the CPU that may change on this year not the next one. -
One reseller/dealer [in Bangalore, India] told me that they might get a new Envy -15 in the second week or third week of October.
-
New Envy sucks, I had issues with Bill me later so I had to hold off last week. Now the new Envy is on the site with no 1600x900 option.
Anyone know where to get a laptop with the same specs, height, weight as the Envy for under 1250? -
-
You can get the SONY EB series now with 1920x1080 resolution screens and better cpus (i5-580) for less. It's got a plastic shell, but otherwise very nice specs. Not to mention, a bluray drive is available for it.
-
-
Anybody know if the refreshed models make any other changes? Such as, a revised trackpad?
-
The new Envy will be for 15 model with Slot Load Drive Max Ram only 8gb
-
-
-
A blue ray drive and better processor will not make up for lack of radiance screen. I have no clue why HP does this
-
-
-
-
just saying the envy 15 is down oh hp's site, i mean it still shows up but not linked to a laptop config page and no price. so maybe a new rev 15?
-
Accessing the cpu is stupidly easy on the envy 14 as well. If you're worried about the GPU then this probably isn't the laptop for you. You can play current games at medium resolutions at native1600x900. If you need more horse power then a Envy 17 or other gaming laptop would suit you better.
In the long run it will be harder to upgrade the screen because the Envy 14 is the only laptop that is using a 14.5" screen that has a 1600x900 resolution. It's probably specially made for HP and even they are having issues keeping it in stock. -
I see they withdraw all the envy 13 its not in hp site any more

Just one doubt did the current envy laptops where expandable up to 16GB of ram? with core i7, or just on envy 15 and 17.
And same question as schismal, do you have an idea of when this is going to be able to buy. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
E14 had a beats edition months later after the launch. The E15 had it from the start.
There is no way that you have that info, Im sorry pal, but that is just a wish list
New Envy coming out in a month??
