Only the Envy 15 (Rest in Peace) had 4 DIMM slots in the motherboard with i5 and i7 processors. The Envy 17 and Envy 14 only have 2 DIMM slots. For those of use that run applications that actually require massive amounts of RAM, it is sad to hear the E15 is discontinued.

Where was it stated that the E15 will never be offered again?

Hopefully, it will be offered again. According to the phone reps, it has been discontinued and if it becomes available again in the future, it will be a different version. Possibly limited to 2 DIMM slots, no way to confirm yet.

AFAIK, the beats 14 is only available with the 1366x768 display at this time. The non-beats E14 is available with 1600x900, but this option intermittently disappears from the HP order page when supply problems occur and reappears a few weeks later.

The E15 is no longer available and there is no way to know if or when the new version will go to market. (It would seem to make the most sense to release it prior to the holiday shopping season, but who knows?)

Does anyone know if the current refresh, i.e., i5-460M, models have any other differences from the previous versions? i.e., trackpad redesign, anything like that?

Trying to figure out whether I should stick with my Beats Edition or get a replacement from the refresh (if I can, since Costco doesn't seem to be carrying the Envys anymore at the moment)...

You have 21 days of satisfaction to try your model.
Within 21 days you can return your laptop to them for full refund and they even pay for the shipping.

I just talked to the customer rep, she said that the return shipping fee would not be returned unless the product is defective

The rep was wrong. HP provides the return label and pays for shipping. Look at their policy. It states everything you need to know about returning a product within 21 days.

Here's hoping for a new Envy 15 sometime before Christmas. As soon as they release it I'm going to get one.

This is true. I returned mine because "I didn't like it." HP provided me a prepaid shipping label and processed the refund as soon as FedEx sent them the package information the same day I dropped it off at Kinko's. Very smooth process.

Dell xps series is out with better specs
Nvidia 435 graphics with optimus, USB 3.0, 1080p screen on xps 15. I guess now that if hp didn't comes out with something better. They will lose a lot of money before Christmas

How does the 435M compare to, say, a Radeon 5830?

I think the 5830 is faster. Please correct me if I'm wrong. However 435 may be requires less power and is optimus enabled

In fact I just checked at notebookcheck.net and 5830 is way faster than 435. 435 is slightly more powerful than just a 5650 :D and slower than 5730 according to notebookcheck.net

I think 5830 have better power consumption than 435.

Does anyone know something about the new HD68xx in HP Envy?

I doubt a new HP Envy will come out before Black Friday. If there was a model coming out...it would have been leaked on the internet by now. Oh well...maybe they'll have something for Jan 2011.

Yah, I doubt a new E14 is coming out too. Seems like every B&M store is carrying the E14 online now (Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Staples, OfficeDepot, etc). And seems like some online retailers too (Newegg, Amazon, etc). Just wish it was cheaper for folks, cuz HP has really gone down in quality.

I don't see how they could sell this thing any cheaper than they do without compromising on components (radiance display not withstanding). I got mine with the 400 off coupon and it is worth every penny so far.

Where did you find a $400 discount?
$300 black friday is the most I've seen.

HP had better release a new envy for CES 2011. >:[ I would be really disappointed if there is still no progress by Jan 2011.
