    Just downloaded the latest and greatest bios update from HP. Of course there is never any real documentation of what they did. Machine seems a bit faster, I doubt there will be much power savings since it the low cpu multiplier is still set at 6x which is around 900+Mhz......... :mad:

    I was talking with quanta and made a suggestion for giving the user some control on the multipliers........get that didn't get anywhere.

    Oh well

    Well whatever they did they hosed any type of power management.......went from 2 hours 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes under the same config as when I ran the test last time.

    Nothing like going backwards.......... :mad:

    I haven't noticed any speedup with F16, but my computer seems to "whine" a less when running on battery power. (It doesn't whine at all on AC -- yet.) It could be that the new BIOS is running a bit more current through the processor at idle to try to combat that Core 2 Duo whine issue; this would be consistent with your loss of battery time, kittmaster.

    In addition to that, a problem I'd been having with my screen flickering during battery charging seems to have been resolved in this patch. But I haven't noticed any other improvements so far. Does anyone have a list of fixes in F16?

    AMD is upto F2x

    Intel is upto F1x

    @Cogitatus

    Yes I'm sure they modified the system to reduce whine.......but for battery power.......come on.......what is the point of a notebook if you have to drag the ac adapter around.

    There were only two things listed on the page......nothing really useful as I could gather

    Ok they fixed the whine issue but what about fan noise?

    My firmware version is F13.The fan is really silent but I have the whine issue.
    Does the F16 Bios corrects the whine at the cost of more fan activity?

    I think that somebody had this problem with F15 Bios.

    My DV6000t came with f.16 on it 3 weeks ago and has the high-pitched whine but no fan issue, so I guess these two issues (and other issues) are kind of hit and miss depending on your luck.
