I think my HDD may have died and I want to get a new one...
My question is, if I got a WD 750gb 7200RPM drive, would it support the hp mobile data protection software or are there only specific hard drives that do?
    Thanks.

You should be fine - HP ProtectSmart/3D DriveGuard is dependent upon the presence of the Mobile Data Protection Sensor that is already inside the notebook, not on the actual hard drive.

western digitals have their own G-sense sensor as well, so even if it didn't work, it would still be protected.

but having both is a bonus.
