Wifi "N" speed is maxing out at 135 Mbps. This is the Intel 5100 card. All my other laptops use 4965AGN, and all connect to the same router at 270 Mbps. so this is a serious bummer. (Router is a Linksys WRT600N.)

What I've done: made sure I had the most up-to-date driver from HP--I did. Then I went to Intel, and they have a more recent driver, dated 10/8/08, so I installed that. No joy--still hanging at 135 Mbps.

Tinkered w/the adapter settings on the HDX16 itself, enabling/disabling things one at a time, or changing drop-downs w/multiple settings one at a time to see if any difference. Nope.

Tinkered w/some router settings-again, no joy. And since I get the full 270 Mbps w/my other laptops w/the router's current settings, I don't think it's the router.

I remember having this problem when I bought my HDX "Dragon" last year--the original model, but a driver update fixed it. So I don't know what to do here--135 Mbps is just too slow.

I read some other comments on another thread here, about the 5100 card being inferior to the 5300--using less antennas or something. Did I buy a laptop w/a wireless adapter that's always going to be a slug? If so, I am seriously bummed. What's the verdict?

My DV7T only shows 65Mbps and I have the D-Link Xtreme N Gaiming router. How did you get your 5100 get to 135mbps?

Possibly due to the WRT600N--it's a pretty powerful router. Tho it still isn't getting the HDX16 up to the speed it should be at.

You might also play w/the wireless adapter settings themselves, which is what I did. (I.e., get into the "Configure" dialog via Hardware manager, click on the "Advanced" tab, and start tinkering w/the list items and their corresponding drop-downs. Make sure you remember what the original settings are before making changes.

Mine is getting 72 Mbps on an AirLink 101 Wireless-N router. My older 4965AGN got 200 Mbps. So I was really disappointed in my 5100AGN on my dv5t. Truly disappointed, but download speeds are still fast as well as page loading, so I don't care right now. Hopefully an updated Intel driver would do the trick. The one's from the Intel website right now, don't help at all.

I'm measuring 130Mbps watching from the router. Although the computer is only showing 65Mbps. When I speed test im averaging 14kbps+ on almost every internet speed test. [IMG]

I posted my specs in this post.

Yes on coupons, but ones I used are expired now, I believe. Check the sticky.

Still configuring in my spare moments, but my initial impression is that I will probably use this laptop more often than my others (w/the possible exception of my ASUS Eee 1000H :D )
