Anybody tried it out?
-
anyone tried it on DV2500 with XP?
-
It came stock with my dv2700 CBO, and all I can say is it works fine
Sorry, don't have any experience with any other HP to say if it improved anything...
-
i noticed it dropped my temperatures about 10 c while idling
-
Wow, this update is great. My temps are down 12 degrees C and fan noise is alot lower.
-
what about battery life? .. if the fans gonna be always on, the battery is gonna take a small hit
-
well, before the update, my fans were always on anyways, and at highest speeds at that. So I think i might actually see improvement in the batt life dept.

with new f2.a bios dv2700& dv2800 serieses now support windows xp.....

well apparently the F.2A bios allows to install XP
so install the F.2A BIOS again and see if you can install XP
Visual C++ should work on vista. Do youi have the latest updates? -
thank you for quick reply.
as far visual c is concerned .no i got the basic one. do tell me if there is any service pack for it.

thanks -
download this driver pack http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6R56CI5E
then follow the XP guide starting from this heading
Im not sure if theres any service packs. Use your windows update and download the latest stuff -
thank you, but does it valid for dv2500 cto ???
-
can someone host this file on like rapidshare or something, because i cant seem to download it off of hp's website. it goes straight to a blank ftp server page.
-
Doing it right now. Hang in there! My stupid internet connection is on the job.
-
thanks man... i guess everyone else is having that problem too
-
oh, if you got your 250gb hard drive installed by HP from the factory meaning you didnt upgrade it, what model and brand drive is it if you dont mind me asking. Im trying to get a 250gb drive from hp, but it doesnt list the brand nor the model number on their website.
-
Mine is a Fujitsu from what I know as I checked it once using NHC. Everybody says these Fujitsu HDs are flimsy but I haven't had any problems in the three months that I have had this Laptop.
And here is the link
http://rapidshare.com/files/111548767/sp38886.exe.html
The BIOS upgrade went great for me by the way. -
Thanks, the upgrade worked great, seeing temperatures about 12-15 degrees cooler and no fan noise what so ever.
-
You are welcome.

Another s**t Bios from HP.
The fan spins always and never stops. A constant low noise and battery consuption.
@HP
We don't want a slowly spinning fan. We want the stupid fan shuting up (aka stop, not spinning) saving our heads (preventing headache once in library) and battery life.
Using Ubuntu Linux the fan spins only when necessary, why not the same in Xp?
Are HP engineers not able?
@all
Do not buy noisy DV2500/2700!!! -
what?!? this is one of the best BIOS's that ever came out for the dv2000 series.
(eg only)Instead of the fans going from 0 to 5000rpm and sounding like a blow dryer they make it constantly run at 1000rpm or so and slowly accelerate to a higher speed when it needs too.
Less fan noise and cooler temps for me. Check this out:
-
Firstly flip why is your notebook so cold? Mine is still giving me temps in the mid 40s while idling! Plus I have never heard my Fan while idling. Only when the thing goes to about 60-65 C does the fan start to make its presence felt. Are you using a cooler or something?
Also I so desperately want to have a look at the HD temps as I think the HD is heating up. Isn't there any way? -
Well its winter time here and im using a cooler..
But with the older BIOS my CPU idle was 39c and GPU idle was 52
I suggest buying a cooler
Did you install both intel chipset drivers? you should be able to see your HDD temps since we pretty much ahve the same notebook -
I did buy a useless cooler. Just not helping me at all. Probably a degree or two drop here or there. I would buy a better model if I got one here in India. The only ones that I get are stupid ones made in China.
As for the drivers what two Intel Drivers are you talking about? Plus which Brand is your Hard Disk? I have a Fujitsu.
EDIT: I have one set of drivers installed titled 'Chipset' in the SWSetup folder. Which is the second one? -
Mines a Western digital scorpio
Actually go to the fujitsu website and try updating the firmware of your HD
http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computing/storage/hdd/support/utilities.html
should be somewhere there under flash utility -
Thanks Flipfire but it Doesn't make sense to me at all. I am using MHY2250BH. No drivers for this HD.
