I don't get why this is new news? HP has already offered the dv6t with AMD/ATI graphics cards. What's the big fuss?

ATI but not AMD. You had me wondering so I went to HP.com and checked. As I thought, T is for Intel and the Z would be your AMD. These systems should be a tad cheaper but IMO not worth the savings. And unfortunately these new systems will probably have the crappy 16:9 display with no hi resolution option.

You see, I think that hp got their customers worked up because to them, AMD is ATI. If you take a look at the dv3z and the tx2z on their website , it's labeled AMD on the picture when you click on it. But when you look at their options, its basically an ATI card. So your pick on what HP means.

    No they are not!
AMD bought ATI, so ATI is a subdivision of AMD.
You can have ATI GPU in a laptop, but not necessary the CPU. (Aka Thinkpad W500)

The dv6z is up on hp.com now. The 4650 is offered (yay!) but no higher-resolution screen nor a LED backlit screen. I find myself wanting a bit more resolution so I'd be tempted to upgrade if the screen offerings change. Great to see HP finally put proper GPUs in their AMD notebooks.

Lol! Look how its under the "non- performance" category like the dv6t and hdx series notebooks.
I think they'll move it later or maybe not.

Not only that, the dv6t just got bumped up a FREE upgrade onto 4GB RAM. ?
