It would be interesting to see the expected shipping dates of these models; for those of use that are expecting one of them in the near future; and to see how in synch is HP with the Windows 7 launch, and whether they have all the preconfigured models in stock before actual launch.

    Thanks guys;

And please share anything interesting, during configuration, ordering, and shipping. And perhaps share some tips about ordering that people perhaps should know.

I ordered a dm3t on the morning they were made available. I realized after I placed the order that I had chosen the wireless-g card instead of the n. I called customer service intending to cancel my order and place a new one with the wireless-n card, but the rep offered to credit me $50 if I kept my current order. I was pretty surprised that they would go to such lengths, especially since it was no more than 15 minutes after I had placed the order, but I took the offer.

Was there a reason why you went with the N? I went with the G only because N just doesn't seem like it'll be widespread anytime soon.

You misunderstood. I chose the g for the same reason as you, but then I felt like future proofing a little. So I called to cancel my order and get the n, but the rep convinced me to stick with the g.

I went with N and I'll tell you why.

Windows Media Center on my Xbox360. I love that a MRSP $199 Xbox360 can become a Media Center Extender. Meaning you can stream photos, videos, music and internet tv from a Vista/Win7 computer via MCE to the Xbox.

I already use this setup with my 2year old notebook connected via WiFi-G. It connects to a B/G/N router thats CAT5 wired to my 360. I can stream music and photos just fine.. but it will not stream video or internet tv because the connection is too slow. The bottleneck here is the WifiG connection of my old computer. My new DM3 has wifi-N which should atleast double my current bandwidth if not more.

I cant wait to purchase a 2nd 360 and put it in the bedroom. It also helps MS just came out with a Wifi-N adapter for the 360. It was only $25 to add N network speeds to my new DM3.. (and another $25 to include bluetooth) Both of these are future proof technologies being actively used now. And Im glad they are all will be internally included in my 'future' notebook. I hate buy adapters and USB plugins to add features.

It seems that so far the vast majority of the orders are to be shipped around the 28th, which is consistent with the reports from other threads. Any hope that they might surprise us with some earlier shipments, especially given that we sort of expected HP to have stocks of Win7 products ready at launch?

Your guess is as good as anyone elses. I've been checking my order status daily hoping that they'll ship early since I ordered mine right after they went up on the site, but it's still saying the 28th. I'd really like to get it before next weekend (2 day shipping plus "a minimum of one day to clear customs" per the HP shipping information page).

I just received an email from HP this morning saying that they have shipped my laptop. How long do you think before it will show up on FedEx? Also, if you look at the bottom of the email, it says to allow at least one shipping day for it to clear through customs, but I think that estimate shipping date includes that.

Does the estimated delivery date factor in that day for customs clearance?

Okay... But.... The delivery date is for Tomorrow Morning...

and this is the first time I have ever seen that clearance delay...

It didn't happen with the one I had received last month... nor with the one last year...

But I'll take your word for it.

If FedEx is telling you tomorrow morning, you can trust that. However, calculating yourself the arrival date using the "shipping date + two business day shipping" doesn't take into account a day for customs clearance.

Us envy 15 folks are that ordered on the 18th all see, Order in production
(Estimated to ship on October 28, 2009). Looks like there is no hope for early delivery for us. Some of us are doubtful that they will even ship on time. We will wait and see.

I wouldn't trust FedEx's tracking system. I've had it tell me that my package was in California, than not even an hour later, have it arrive at my doorsteps here in Florida (not physically possible). Heck, HP sent me an email yesterday morning saying they shipped my package and FedEx's tracking system says that no such shipment exists.

Alternatively, it could be that your package got stuck in customs for an additional day, but I doubt it.

You might want to call FedEx and see what they have to say about it. If it ends up not arriving today, you can get a release form that you sign that will allow the driver to drop off the package even if you are not at home.

P.S. How long after the email from HP should I expect my shipment to show up on FedEx's tracking system?

Just a note for people, if you are comfortable with it. If you know you won't be home you can leave a note on your door with the tracking number and saying for them to leave it at the front door or wherever, and most all the time they will leave it. Though I'm sure some places you wouldn't want them to do that :)

I don't know if FedEx will accept a handwritten note, but you can print out a Release Form by clicking on the Pre-sign link in your shipment confirmation email.

I have ordered atleast 4 laptops from HP in the past couple of years, and what is going on right now is NOT normal. Every previous instance, when I get the email stating the laptop has shipped, I can immediately go to FedEx and track the package and it's in the system. Usually it'll say the same thing, that it was past the cutoff and then its updated saying FedEx has picked it up in China. I have no clue what is going on, but again, this is NOT normal. I have NEVER had the tracking number show up as not found. It's always been immediate, and being a day later, it definitely should show up now. For myself, my big concern is I have a business trip on the 4th. I was planning to bring the new laptop with me.

i called fedex earlier today, and i asked about my order, the first lady said it showed it had shipped today out of china. I asked if she had an expected shipping date and she said she would get me to international fedex services. I got to them and THEY told me that only a shipping label had been printed, and no shipping was done.

Though that makes me curious where the first lady saw that it shipped already... though most likely i guess i would trust the second lady :/

If anyone wants to call hp and ask them they can, i did my part :D

When did you receive the HP shipment confirmation email and when was the estimated delivery date by FedEx? Also, which team did you call (sales, customer service, technical support, etc.)? Lastly, what was the original estimated build date for your computer?

    Thanks.

I received my shipment confirmation on Saturday (10/24) with an estimated delivery date of today (10/28) by noon. I called customer support (1-800-407-4005 option 4 then 2). The original build date was yesterday (10/27).

The guy on the phone said if I didn't have it tomorrow that I would be credited $50. I got even more upset with him for the fact that I took today off work and he immediately gave me the $50 on the spot. I'll have to keep watching my credit card to make sure it actually goes through, though.

Okay everyone, just an update for you all. I called FedEx as well (the international services department) and was told that yes the labels for our laptops were generated. HOWEVER, FedEx did not pick-up the laptops. As to who is the blame for that, I cannot say, since I don't know. Obviously if HP doesn't get the laptops to FedEx, FedEx really cannot do much. Or if the laptops were ready, but FedEx did not pick them up. So I can't say who is at fault. Anyhow, I am told (atleast with my order) it will be picked up today and I should get it in a few days. That's the best info I can give you all right now. I assume, every one of our laptops will be picked-up together in China.

I'm really hoping the notebook will arrive on Friday, I had already set Friday aside to get the notebook set up how I'd like it. If it doesn't, I may try calling HP and complaining to try to get some money back.

Well for starters, I don't think it'd be here Friday, I would love it, but I doubt it. Because it still would need to clear customs as well, before it actually reaches America. Secondly, I wouldn't complain about the money because atleast for my laptop, it said it'd be done by the 28th. I expected it to be done today of course since that's the date it gave me, but I never expected to receive it Friday. I'd give it till Tuesday of next week, if I don't get it by then, that's when I would complain.

I already called Hp this morning, and the guy claimed I had one more day left for it to show up...

I got mad at him cause he was not helping. I understood about the one day clearance delay.... But that Delay has gone on since the 26th...
I was supposed to get it this morning.

So I'm going to call again and see If I can get some progress.

i called hp, and the lady told me that it shipped out today in fact, and it had not updated shipping yet, if this is the case, we should have our laptops by Friday.

I got the mini 311 earlier this month and when it shipped out (i didn't think it would) but dangit it did get to me in 2 days somehow.

The lady was nice, and the shipping was free anyways so i decided not to be pushy and demand money. I used to do tech support and its really refreshing when someone doesn't gripe about every little thing you had no control over.
