I aint got a chance to compare since Ive never had a hp screen before (; Tho it is glossy but in dark places the quality is simply AMAZING, never seen such contrast and colors on other LCD. The other thing is working during the day. If youre out and under heavy sunlight, you just need to position yourself and the laptop properly and everything is just alright. Cheers.

I love the BrightView...so glad I got it, plus it just makes the laptop look 'cooler'...hehe :) I've already popped that screen up and people are like whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I'm about to test it in a school classroom environment tomorrow, although it passed the library test just fine on low brightness so I'm assuming in a classroom setting it'll be fine also. I'm VERY glad I got that option.

(I think I'm quickly on my way to get banned from this site. Just a lil' joke people - didn't mean to offend- just entertain)

But seriously, I highly recommend the brightview! Yes, the glare is a pain in some situations but EVERYONE of my matte screen laptop friends are furious with jealousy over my zv6000 15 1/2 incher.

It seems that at some stores I've been to, the 15.4" displays look better than the 14" ones. Is it possible that because 15.4" is a more common size, they have more options for low-cost and high-quality panels?

15.4 looking better than a 14 inch? It shouldn't. Depending on the model they should have the exact same resolution since it's all the same maker (HP/Compaq). Which would make the 14 incher a better picture cuz same res on a smaller screen means richer in detail.

Really I hadn't noticed a diff between the 15.4 and 14 inches as far as detail or brightness, maybe someone else, more knowledgeable could weigh in since I bummed up ur thread.

The only factors I can think of off the top of my head as to why you see a difference are the obvious:

    1. Maybe the 14 incher u were looking at was on a dimmer setting
    2. Or it was been for a longer period of time than the 15.4 you were comparing it too.
    3. Or I'm wrong and the 15.4 you were looking at had a higher screen resolution.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Either way, I'd recommend the 14 incher- as most models with that screen are lighter/compact/ cheaper. Then you can use the cash u save and get a 17 incher which WILL have a greater screen resolution.
