So some friends of mine just bought a new HP HDX16t and HP Pavilion Elite e9180t desktop. The laptop is just fine, no problems; but the desktop is having issues. I know there is a forum for desktops now but there's about 1 person viewing on avg, vs. 150 here so....

Anyway, he's had this desktop for about 2.5 weeks and all he's really installed is Google Earth and some apps like GIMP, etc, nothing strange but his computer crashes at times giving him the an error like needing to shut down to prevent damage to his system or something and problems with his wireless card not being able to connect to their network when the system wakes up from sleep (restarting computer fixes problem)...

He's had a few other issues but it seems like his OS is unstable... which is odd since it's a new computer... He has no recovery disc but does have a recovery partition but if the problem has to do with all the bloatware that was/is on the computer then a system recovery is useless.

I told him to contact HP but I'm sure they'll say something like "do a system restore." He will be getting Windows 7 when it is released, so maybe a fresh install of 7 is best? Thanks.
