thank's your alot of help -
Ohhh ic, you dont need any drivers for DVD drive, Windows XP detected the drive. However, you will need some sort of software that allows you burn DVD, like Nero.

Oh, I never used the Recovery Disc on my dell computer. But i m sure that someone will help you.
JC -
RAM is installed on the bottom of the laptop and you have to open it up. With the recovery disks, basically the OS when first booted up should inform you to burn the Recovery DVD's since you have a DVD burner. If I were you try to call HP and ask them for the driver disks and boot disks so then there wont be a problem of burning so many DVD's
-
-
Thing is when you fresh reinstall with the recovery disks you burn, they have all the bloatware and unwanted programs. The disks from HP I believe dont have them but im not sure.
-
-
thats weird, i own a v2000z and they gave me two disc, one is the actual windows xp recover disk, which is just like a regular windows xp disc. and a DVD full of drivers and software. if you dont want all the Hp crapware, you dont have to install it.

-
So HP does not send out any disks with their laptops anymore? I ordered a dv5000 last week and I went to support to ask them about it but they won't answer my questions until I the serial and product number of the dv5000.
-
-
HP doesnt offer the XP disks anymore except with Intel based laptops( I dont know why?) To cut back on costs, they force you instead now to burn DVD's off the recovery partition and use that in case of something going wrong.
-
Can you call HP and order the disks?
-
-
Yes you can call them up and ask for the CD's,I believe some members on the site have already done this so it is possible.
-
ill just make a recovery disk when it gets here -
s/n? you dont have it? Thats strange
