So, I had a fujitsu S6000 series laptop. It served me well, except I wanted something fresh, with a larger screen and a bit more powerful.

So i purchased the HP dv2125nr. Specs:

AMD 64 turon duo 1.6ghz mobile proc
    1024mb RAM
    120gb hdd
    14" widescreen screen

$799 and a free printer at best buy. So how did i do? Is it a good machine? I hope so :) Anyone else have one?

I ran super pi.. it beat my 1.6ghz pentium m by 2 seconds :(

i was hoping since it was a dual core processor, and had twice the ram that it'd beat it by more :(

Well, Super Pi is a single threaded benchmark, so wont be any faster in a dual core processor when it cannot make use of the second core. Run 2 instances of SuperPi setting affinity to each core and you should see the real power of dual core.

Yeah, but in the Intel Core Duo Benchmarks, the 2.0GHZ Core Duo obliterates the Pentium M 2.0 GHZ.

Thats because there was an architecture change, if you had a 2.0GHz Pentium M and a dual core version of the same processor, then the Super Pi times will be the same.

Oh really, I didn't know that, I thought that it was the same architecture, just that they doubled up on the processor's, and switched to a 65NM production.
