    Updated on 14th Mar 09 with MediaSmart TV!

    Hi Guys.. just noticed these MediaSmart apps were uploaded to the HP FTP:

    HP MediaSmart Webcam
    VendorVersion=2.1.1208
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42222.exe

    HP MediaSmart MVP
    VendorVersion=2.1.2425
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42224.exe

    HP MediaSmart TV
    VendorVersion=2.1.1409
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42501-43000/sp42505.exe

    HP MediaSmart SmartMenu
    VendorVersion=2.1.8
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp42001-42500/sp42238.exe

    HP MediaSmart DVD
    http://liveupdate.cyberlink.com/b/a.../BD_HD/Tov4/hp/HTS080818-01/HP_MediaSmart.exe

    Someone with a HP laptop with MediaSmart please let me know if there are any other MediaSmart apps that come preinstalled? I'm researching the idea of putting MediaSmart on an older HP dv5t with only "QuickPlay".. :)

    I'm not sure.. there doesn't seem to be any specific dependencies upon Vista but it's hard to say without trying it! Just make sure you've installed the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. Give it a go if you like.. :) I just installed the apps now and there isn't really anything special, however.

    ill give it a go. i do need to really try out the MediaSmart Webcam since YouCam 2 in XP is giving me a light blue box instead of myself. still dont know why. i may end up just finding another app all together. maybe this one. :)

    Good stuff there, there is MediaSmart DVD and MediaSmart TV. The DVD gets updates from cyberlink and you can update it withing the program. However if you can find a softpaq update for MediaSmart TV, that would be great.

    Which brings me to my next question, where are you finding these updates cause i don't see them listed in the HDX laptop support pages on HPs website.

    I've written a little program that scans the HP ftp for new uploads. :) Hmm do you have an installer for MediaSmart TV or DVD in your SoftPaq folder?

    I can see the new uploads, but hell if i know what each does without downloading them. There are seperate installers for both that come with the OEM folder, but they are HUGE files.

    To see what is in the new uploads you can open the ".cva" or ".html" file with the same softpaq number. :) This usually gives you details on the update including fixes and version numbers.. just remember they don't only upload new SoftPaq's in increasing numbers.. they sometimes upload new files in the older number directories..

    EDIT: By the way how well does MediaSmart TV work?

    It's just a copy of the quickplay tv out there. Doesn't seem to be too different but it is part of the mediasmart system.

    i was able to install these software on a tx2500z, which came with quickplay.
    i didnt have to modify anything. i didnt try though the mediasmart tv because i dont even have a tv tuner. the mediasmart dvd i got from a cyberlink url that i dont remember anymore where i got (i googled that as far as i was concerned), the hp softpaq that had the mediasmart dvd did not work.

    I can confirm that both the MediaSmart Webcam and MVP works fine on my dv6500t. However, SmartMenu must be installed AFTER the Webcam and MVP. If SmartMenu was first installed, the selection menu does not appear if I try to open it. I have to repair or reinstall SmartMenu after the Webcam and MVP are installed so that the menu appears.

    Also, my QuickPlay touch buttons don't seem to work any longer which is a minor annoyance, but I don't use them that much anyway. Perhaps there is a way to relate MediaSmart to the QuickPlay buttons?

    No webpage. When you run the MediaSmart DVD, and you go into the options, there is a tab to upgrade. If it lists an upgrade and you click on it, it launches a link similar to that to download. I just cut and paste really quick.
