Someone with a HP laptop with MediaSmart please let me know if there are any other MediaSmart apps that come preinstalled? I'm researching the idea of putting MediaSmart on an older HP dv5t with only "QuickPlay"..![]()
-
i assume that it will only work on Vista and not XP?
-
I'm not sure.. there doesn't seem to be any specific dependencies upon Vista but it's hard to say without trying it! Just make sure you've installed the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. Give it a go if you like..
I just installed the apps now and there isn't really anything special, however.
-
ill give it a go. i do need to really try out the MediaSmart Webcam since YouCam 2 in XP is giving me a light blue box instead of myself. still dont know why. i may end up just finding another app all together. maybe this one.
-
Which brings me to my next question, where are you finding these updates cause i don't see them listed in the HDX laptop support pages on HPs website. -
Hmm do you have an installer for MediaSmart TV or DVD in your SoftPaq folder?
-
-
This usually gives you details on the update including fixes and version numbers.. just remember they don't only upload new SoftPaq's in increasing numbers.. they sometimes upload new files in the older number directories..
EDIT: By the way how well does MediaSmart TV work? -
-
-
-
its saying that it only works on touchsmart and media smart systems. is there a registry setting that lets it install?
-
i was able to install these software on a tx2500z, which came with quickplay.
i didnt have to modify anything. i didnt try though the mediasmart tv because i dont even have a tv tuner. the mediasmart dvd i got from a cyberlink url that i dont remember anymore where i got (i googled that as far as i was concerned), the hp softpaq that had the mediasmart dvd did not work. -
Which package said that? I managed to install both Webcam and MVP fine on a dv5t.
-
I can confirm that both the MediaSmart Webcam and MVP works fine on my dv6500t. However, SmartMenu must be installed AFTER the Webcam and MVP. If SmartMenu was first installed, the selection menu does not appear if I try to open it. I have to repair or reinstall SmartMenu after the Webcam and MVP are installed so that the menu appears.
Also, my QuickPlay touch buttons don't seem to work any longer which is a minor annoyance, but I don't use them that much anyway. Perhaps there is a way to relate MediaSmart to the QuickPlay buttons? -
-
Hey all I've finally found a link for MediaSmart TV so that means all MediaSmart apps are now available online as far as I know!
-
-
I got this working on my DV7...I do have this over the default quickplay. Thx for the links!!!!
-
And [SMAN] thank you for the link! I will add it to the first post. However is there a webpage where you got that link from? Incase when a new version comes out the exe link changes but the webpage stays the same.. Thanks again! -
