Just wondering, I ordered a pre-configured NC8430, model # EY 688, but I do not see anything that refers to a lightscribe DVD burner. I just burned my restore DVD's, but I would like to burn a label on them if possible, but I'm not sure if I have a lightscribe DVD burner, or if they are only available with the customizeable units from HP. My DVD burner is model # HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N. Loving this new lappy so far though!

Well I have a dv9000t, so I'm not sure this applies. On mine it says LightScribe right on the DVD panel.

Oh, plus I got preloaded software to support it, so you can look for that too.

when you get it, the burner itself will have the LightScribe logo right on the bezel.

Thanks, No lightscribe on the bezel, and when I tried to load the software it didn't load, so I am assuming that means I just have a regular DVD burner. Oh well, not a deal breaker, just thought it might be cool to try it out. Just loaded Morrowind on it, difference in the graphics between this and my old thinkpad is amazing, but this thing gets hot sitting on my lap on the couch.....

I have a dv2000t that was configured w/o Lightscribe. However I found that HP bundled sonic software that supports lable burning too. So will this work fine on my system?

You can get a cheap OEM copy of Nero 6 on eBay which will include lightscribe software. Probably around $10.

If you bought your laptop through HP, Lightscribe is a customizable option.

yup...you cannot get LightScribe with a preconfigured model. you must make a CTO build.
