So I made the jump to Vista last week and I could no be happier. The only thing that really bugs me is that my girlfriend has a Vista laptop with an Intel GMA 950 and she has a better gaming score than me (Go 7200), 3.0 vs 2.7. What the hell???? I read that the Nvidia drivers suck, but come on

Anyways, does anyone know if they are coming out with new drivers any time soon??? I'll even take recommendations on modified beta ones at this point.

Modded .infs used to install desktop Nvidia Vista drivers can be found here:

    www.laptopvideo2go.com

My Go 7400 gets a score of 3.2 talk about lame.

i wouldn't worry about what the score says. the 7200 will run games around 2x faster than the gma 950 regardless of was the WEI score says... unless the drivers really are that bad. i played a few games and they run surprisingly well.

here's a comparison (under xp i believe) of 3d mark scores between the 7200 and the gma 950 just to give a sense of how the two compare:

    7200:
    3DMark03: 2700 points
    3DMark05: 1450 points
    3DMark06: 674 points

    GMA 950:
    3DMark03: 1300 points
    3DMark05: 450 points
    3DMark06: 170 points

Under XP you are right, but I think with Vista it is a different animal. So far my pre-2005.5 games work pretty good, but I've read lots of comments on the web unhappy with Nvidia's handling of their Vista drivers.

Also, it's a macho thing. My girlfriend (who plays solitaire on her PC) cannot have a higher score than mine, lol =)

Is it recommended to upgrade to those new drivers? Currently they are OK for halflife2 but if they can be better im all for it right? but I have that slight if it works don't tweak it thing going in my head..

Well, on my dv2000t, my experience with various Nvidia Vista drivers is that the modded drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com cause more problems than they're worth. My system ran much hotter (and with the fan running on high) using those drivers, and I was frequently getting errors about "The graphics card recovered from a serious error". The error would come up every time I resumed the system from standby, and other times just at random. So I went back to the HP ones. Older... but no problems. Also, HP has posted some new drivers (in the last week or so) for most Nvidia chips that work well enough.

    Just my $.02

    Howdy...

I have a dv2000t with Vista preinstalled, and the preinstalled nVidia drivers wouldn't drive my external monitor at 1680x1050.

I installed the latest from laptopvideo2go, and now it works, although only in 16-bit depth (not 32-bit).

The drivers are buggy, however. Animation is not very smooth, and video playback is sometimes jerky. I'll be happy when HP releases better drivers.

Isn't NVIDIA working on updating their drivers? I got the 7400 because it was supposed to be a much better GPU that the Intel 950.

Ive always had great results using the laptopvideo2go drivers. Actually ive gotten better scores off the windows experience deal. My games have never had errors either. I currently have the 7600go 512meg card.

Yeah, I tried the modified laptop2go things and the stock driver was faster for halflife 2...
One advantage was it DID let me have access to other resolutions.. but 44fps (high, medium, high... blahblah) im happy.

Well I tried the laptopvideo2go drivers when I was using XP but I would get the BSOD every once in a while, enough to get me to go back to the OEM drivers. Oh, well, I guess patience is a virtue. I just can't believe that after knowing Vista was coming out for so long that they could not get their drivers up to snuff.
