I bought the a dv8t laptop with only 500 GB hard drive.

I created the 4 recovery dvd's then replaced the factory hard drive with the highly rated Intel 80GB SDD drive.

After going through all 4 disks, I rebooted but the system could not find a 'bootable device" !

I did a system check. The SSD drive checked out OK. The Recovery Manager allowed me to get a Command prompt and I checked out the C: drive. There was about 50GB left with all the typical Windows folders when I did the directory listing.

The hard drive recognized and Win 7 looks to be installed OK but why isn't it booting up from the SSD drive?

I'm going through the entire restore process once again.

    Anyone with similar experience?

you can try using an original windows disc (which you can download from the link in my sig if you don't have it) to repair the installation, but if that doesn't work, I would say that it would be easiest just to do a clean install of windows on the SSD.

Probably an error because its not the same size/type of drive that the discs were created on. Doing a clean install would fix it and it will run faster than with the restored HP image. Just be sure to install the drivers.
