Has anyone bought the new tablet PC? I've read a couple reviews but looking to hear more. I can't find a local store that sells them.

Also, does the higher cell better (I believe that is 6 cell) protrude out in the same fashion the 12 cell does on the 2000 and 6000 ?

Yes, I have one, but am returning it. It is unusable outside due to the touch screen (not digitizer). You cannot see anything, even on the highest setting. You also have to press pretty hard to use it. I am afraid I will scratch the screen. The case also creaks on the right palm rest pretty bad. Every time you rest your hands there it creaks. Seems cheap. It also gets hot depending on which orientation you hold it slate wise (you will have heat from the right palm rest blasting down into your lap). If these few things were fixed, it would be a killer machine (well, add a core 2 instead of battery gobbling x2 processor also). The six cell batter sticks out the back, not bottom like the DV series. That is good! This is the only tablet I have seen with a camera, a plus for many. Remote is also good to have. By the time you spec it out, it runs in line with most tablets at 1700 plus (1.8 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 160 HD, light scribe, touch screen). So, realistically it is not the bargain they promoted. Circuit City will stock them, but no touch screen for under 1300. Also, inking software is trial. It is part of office 2007, so you will have to purchase this also (correct me if I am wrong here). This machine has promise, but needs better build, processor, and screen (and price!).

I've found it takes about 4-5 months for an equilibrium price, and I notice drops $50.00 or so each week. APP pricing on Hp.com is about $200 cheaper than Costco pricing with the specs I looked at. I like the size, I'm not interested in the touch screen. I'm concerned about heat and fan mainly. I'm concerned with the creaking you mention. The battery sounds like a plus in the back!

Pretty awesome notebook, no creaking whatsoever, and also comes with 2 batteries, 6 cell and 4 cell.
