HP posted a number of new drivers for the dv6500t and dv6700t that say “Adds support for Microsoft Windows Vista Operating Systems with Service Pack 1 (SP1).” Should all of these drivers be installed if you already have Vista SP1, or should they only be installed to address specific problems? For example, there is a new Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Driver. Is there any reason to install it if you don’t have network problems? I upgraded to Vista SP1 via Windows Update when it first came out and don't have any of the SP1-specific drivers that were released in the last week or so.

If you don't have any problems, then you don't have to update. I still recommend updating to the most recent drivers.

Has anyone successfully installed the new Realtek Audio Driver (6.0.1.5548 A)? I’m hesitant to try it because I had some problems installing the previous version and had to use system restore to undo it.

I was able to install the new Realtek 6.0.1.5548 A audio driver. In doing so I found out why I wound up with a generic windows audio driver when I tried to install the previous version (6.0.1.5494 A). It turns out that setup.exe needs to be run manually from the SoftPaq directory after the system restarts to complete the installation. The instructions for this step were in a popup box. I don’t recall seeing this box last time but I may have missed it. The best bet is to carefully follow the on-screen instructions. It may work differently on your system.

Has anyone tried the new NVIDA 7.15.11.7432 A video driver? Did it improve your Windows Experience Index?
