So I just got the new dm4 and well, the sound is awful. There is extreme "volume leveling" or "loudness equalization" or whatever you call it. When the music is quiet, the volume goes up, when the music is loud, the volume goes down, yet in the speakers/playback settings, I have all enhancements completely disabled, including the option called "loudness equalization". Yet despite that, it still occurs, albeit at a less extreme rate than when the enhancement is enabled.

Uh...seriously? This is the worst sound I've ever heard on any laptop ever.

Is there nothing I can do about this? I've already returned many laptops, I'm prepared to return this one. But I'd rather avoid that if possible. Any solutions?

Go to the beats control panel and disable it.

Well, don't ask me how I was able to solve the problem, but I did. I believe it was when I changed the sound to "24 bit Studio Quality". Either way, the volume-leveling is gone. Not sure what that was all about...
