The new 17 envy model is now showing up and in stock on Currys/PCworld website and some shops!

HP Envy 17-3002ea 17.3? Laptop buy online | Currys

The image is the old model, however the model number and specs match the new redesigned model.

Im gonna take a trip to my local store to have a look at it, even though I want a 15" not a 17", will I be tempted? :p

Turns out I was not tempted by the 17" model. The helpful assistant opened up the sealed box, mostly the laptop was lovely, however the scratches on the lid and more on the metal chassis (palm rest area) was disappointing. Not something you would expect from a £1400 laptop!

And for that price you don't even get a full HD screen. Hp once again is ripping off the uk customers.

Everyone does that and then blames GBP's currency! Seriously, we're always late in getting things and we always have premiums on our stuff for some reason.

Anyway, to those of you who are interested, I'm located in London and have ordered a 15 from the US due to arrive mid-january sometime. I was planning on selling it when it arrives but might change my mind if it suits me!

I'll keep you updated if anyone wants it!

I was on the verge of ordering from the US yesterday using a US mail proxy service like myus, however the 30% voucher expired that very day!

With the 30% off it worked it out with shipping and UK VAT etc. around £850 all in, which was an impressive price.

My only reservation now is all the posts in the 15" owners forum on here about the red colour issues. :/ Not great when you spend nearly a grand on a laptop!

Seems to me that it's entirely subjective. Collating all of the evidence available in both the discussion thread and the Owner's Lounge builds an unclear picture. Whilst a lot of people posted pictures, the user that posted the video of the camera viewing angles had quite an effect to me. It seemed that just by twitching the lens in one direction changed the Red colour a huge amount. So yes, it may have a less accurate colour gamut, but I'm going to reserve judgement until I have it in front of me to see how it actually looks in person.

To be perfectly honest, it doesn't really matter how different reds are to another panel as long as you can tell what is the darkest red from an individual perspective. I work in the design world professionally and that's my opinion. I also know that I'm not going to find a Windows PC elsewhere with the combination of build quality, aesthetics and performance all in one.

So yeah, I'mma wait and see!

This is really subjective, the picture posted previous is really different by each user. Think the camera's angle and light will impact the image effect, suggest sit front of your notebook and make own judgement, maybe you will not care it at all. :).

In fact most of people really not notice it before this was highly discussed.

I believe the "red" still show "red" but just not dark(or wash out) if special compare with some monitor, and you can not say this is bad IPS monitor even though.

BTW, i love my Envy15 IPS panle, better than TN panel in my eye.

I've got a friend down in Queens who ordered it for me. He's coming back sometime in January so he said he doesn't mind bringing it with him. I would've got it shipped but last time I did that with the old Envy 15....let's just say I had to pay an extra 150 quid for customs.
