First a little background info. I got my laptop back in November of 2006 and it is an HP Pavilion dv9000 running on Vista 32 bit. I am getting ready to go back to school this fall and want to overhaul my laptop. I bought a new seagate hard drive and installed it. I turned on my computer and it said operating system not found. Now as you all probably know, this computer uses the recovery disc creation instead of actually coming with a backup cd. so I created my backup cd recently and so when I inserted the recovery disc didn't do anuthing and still said "operating system not found" Am I missing a key step here?
Thanks in advance for any info, Brian

You need to go into the post system and make change the order of booting drives, first you need to boot the Cd drive then the hard drive. Here is a link that explains it better than I do: Configuring the Boot Order in the System BIOS HP Pavilion dv9000 CTO Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Yea you just need to boot from the CD drive, there might be a Function command to do it when the HP bios screen comes up

For some reason I was thinking F11 was the command to get it to boot the cd but I realized it was actually F8 after some Fx mashing haha
Thanks guys
New hard drive install
