    Hi all,

I just received my new dv6tqe in the mail today, I love it, I formatted, and ran a couple games, tf2 ran great, but lol suffered....

Anyway I definitely want to stress test it, and benchmark it to make sure that everything is setup correctly. I've read hundreds of pages of posts here, and all the setup guides... but I didn't bookmark the pertinent information and so some of it has been forgotten.

If you guys could post what you would use to make sure that my comp is up to snuff that would be great. Thanks.

LoL should definitely run at 60fps constant

be sure you're putting programs on high performance

With the graphics switching technology implemented in the latest design, I'm afraid this isn't as easy to accurately do. Some benchmarks will work, but others might give you misleading results.

Anyways, if you want to test for testing's sake, there's always the 3DMark suites, the free Half Life 2: Lost Coast benchmark (need Steam though) and various in game benchmarks (ex - Batman Arkham Asylum). I'm sure someone can give you more and potentially better examples though...

Yeah I agree that LoL should run better :(. I'll look around for ways to put it on high performance.

I think there should be a sticky on how to upgrade your gfx drivers, and how to do these benches for when you get your laptop that way everyone has a standardized list they can go through so everyone knows when something on their laptop isn't working quite right, and can fix the problem setting.

I'm going to try running multipi, is there a way I can test my RAM?

right click desktop > configure switchable graphics > leagueoflegends.exe > change to high performance

the best part is, you can actually switch back and forth WHILE you're playing the game. so you will be able to noticeably see the increase in framerate. for me, the difference was ~30 with a few dips during battles using the integrated card and a constant 60 with the radeon

wow... really? I thought the whole ordeal over switchable graphics was that you couldn't set which gfx card to use manually. That sounds great. Thanks.

I'm running prime95 right now. How can I monitor my temps?

oh yeah, the switchable graphics works fine for the most part. set to high performance means radeon and power saving means its using the integated intel graphics.

the problem with it is with openGL programs such as a lot of adobe software. even if you set those to high performance, it still uses the intel graphics

Ok, well Prime95 can stress the cpu and ram, what is recommended to stress the gfx card? It would have to be a directx stress test...

Also is there some way to check the hdd? I tried hdtune, but it kept saying there were multiple problems, and the numbers kept going crazy, I think I have a version that doesn't work with this new hdd. I know hdtune works because on my desktop it works fine.

just use a benchmarking program like 3dmark or furmark for the GPU

Hmm could you recommend what settings I should use, all i see for directx is the burn in, and at standard settings it doesn't appear to be stressing the card at all...
