Planning on purchasing this from newegg. CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Notebook Memory

    $43.99

Right now I've got 2x256 so I'll pull one of the 256 and add this. I've never installed memory on a laptop before, so

    1) Is this the right RAM?
    2) Can someone help me to do it myself?

    thanks

Yes, that is right memory and price also seems very reasonable( I paid $10 more for same memory.

But, if I were you , I would sell of those 256MBs and buy two of those corasir, make it complete 1GB DDR400 RAM( That is what I have and that is what I did).. That way your memory will run at DDR400 speed instead of DDR333.

    Yes, that should work.

just to remind you, it will run in DDR333 mode, since you'll be using it with the factory installed 256MB-DDR333.

I just got a v2000z and I can't believe how easy it is to change the memory: just open the cover on the bottom of the notebook and pop out the old memory, and pop in the new ones. I previously had the HP zv6000 and you had to pratically disassemble the whole thing in order to access the second memory slot. I also love the fact that the mini pci slot is easy to access, in case I need to.
