I just got my omen dc0030ca (gtx 1060, 16gb, i7 8gen) and it is my first gaming laptop.
I did all the windows updates but I don't know if I should update the bios. HP website says there is one update.
    Right now I am using:
    BIOS Version/Date AMI F.05, 2018-06-15

    Here are my questions:
do I really need to updated it? I am a noob and I don't want to messed it up.

website regarding on how to update bios: here but since I am using windows 10 home (which is the one that is already pre installed) I don't have the Bitlocker. Should I just ignore this step then?

Any other tips or input on things to do on a new laptop?
    Thanks!

Its recommended to update the BIOS on a new laptop because of bug fixes, system stability and security enhancements with UEFI. As long you dont shut off your system nor unplug your AC Adapter during the update you'll be fine but you dont have to update your BIOS right away if you're not comfortable with it.

The other things you can do is updating your GPU drivers since its a gaming laptop and installing a antivirus program.

Personally i use ESET Internet Security/NOD32 and its been a great AV for me for many years.

You can use free ones like Avast and others which should do the job.
