    Hi.
I don't now anything about HP laptops.
Today tested for a few minutes HP Envy 14" and i noticed some heat on the screen because air vent being partially blocked (see pics below)
So is this a big issue (fan noise, heat, problems with screen after a few months,...)?

I'm used to Asus, quiet and with "low" temperatures.
I'm afraid to move to something noisy and "hot".

It's fine. Back fan mainly dissipates heat from the 19W GPU. Besides, the MBP only has vents in the hinge.

That is a weird design though. I know the Envy 15 had a small vent located around the right hinge and it always get blocked, but there were so many other vents that were blocked all around the laptop.

I know MBP's get really hot as they wanted to make the thing look very smooth and pure, so they resort to placing the vents in ungainly areas and thus, creating very poor cooling.

Yeah I play SC2 for hours and hours at times with my Envy 14, never experienced any overheating problems or noise. It definitely stays a lot cooler and quieter than my roommates MBP 13 which can't even game nor does it even have a real graphics card.

well I mean. people do have different tolerances for noise. The fan ramps up reaaallly loud if the computer stays at 75+C for too long/is under a full load for more than a couple minutes at a time.

The chassis gets hot by the two fan parts when gaming. but well that's apparently by design (if slightly flawed since it means heat is going up some not out)

Still my launch envy seems fine after a solid 8 months so whatever. I just learned not to put my hand over there (on either area).

only thing that's annoying is that it means it's warm near the power button.

I haven't had any problems with heat, but my envy can get pretty loud during gaming/video editing (i7 though... not sure how other models are). I don't have a problem with it though, because I game with headphones now and I've gotten sorta used to it.
