hmm maybe they dont actually have any in stock but expect them in a few days. could also be a marketing ploy, order one and they could tell you the stock is finished and will get more in x days. gives them advantage over competition. they could have them in stock still, HP might be shipping them out to retailers already.
-
-
well they probably think that if you order one now, it'll arrive by the time santa rosa is officially released (may 9)
-
What about the GPU? gotta live with the inbuilt one?
-
-
ouch.. to think that some unknowing customer would purchase that laptop for $1500 USD with an X3100 gpu in it makes me shudder
-
Here is another dv9500 that is a tad cheaper

CPU FSB is 800mhz, that is santa rosa spec right there, all the older ones have been 533 or 667 so Hp reps are either lyin or REAL stupid. Wouldnt be surprised if theyre either one or both with the reputation of their customer (dis)service
And quite personally, if you're gonna spend that much on a laptop then you really should know what you're buying BEFORE you buy it. -
I'm wondering if Intel/HP have more confidence in this latest GMA than the previous one (as a worthy competitor in the market). It just struck me that the dv9000t always had discrete graphics, the GMA950 was never an option/credit. Suddenly, the refreshed dv9XXX platform has a GMA X3100 as standard fare.
Of course, it may just be the quickest way to dump the new platform on the market without any reguard for the model's previous performance rating.
Personally, I would have left the dv9XXX series out of the refresh until the GeForce 8 options became attainable.
Thoughts?
-
PS. If you think the leaks of the new HP laptops are an accident, you are mistaken. Everyone leaks on purpose to hype things up. -
-
well perhaps HP saw that some people like the dv9000t but dont want the added heat + battery draining issues of a dedicated graphics card.
a potential customer may like the design of the unit but like for example in this forum where users request assistance in deciding which laptops to buy, if the person wants an intel laptop with 17" that doesn't play games, then the dv9000t won't be recommended.
HP may just be covering their bases ensuring they are counted in so they can increase the piece of the market. Also Intel may have told them to include it cuz they saw people choosing the dv9000z when the person doesn't want to play games. -
Good points! -
Yeah there are several reasons why. I mean similar level notebooks from Dell and Toshiba have integrated graphics in their 17" entertainment laptops as options (I think) so its only logical to compete with them for that piece of the market too.
or they could really just be cheap lol ya never know really -
Looks like newegg has removed the HP Santa Rosa laptops...
-
Yep.. indeed they have...
-
ah, no one took a screenshot? what were the prices..
-
Around $1.5k for a dv9500. Don't remember the exact specs, but it was not very impressive for that price.
-
Just noticed that they were pulled from the site. Maybe they were slapped down for jumping the gun? The same happened a week before the Vista launch (when they were trying to sell the os before MS's prescribed launch date).
NewEgg already has Santa Rosa HPs in stock???
