Hey guys, I just got a Pavilion DV6T QE and I had some basic questions I was hoping you could answer:

    1) This laptop came with Windows 7 (64 bit) but no disc, if I wanted to reformat my laptop how would I do so?

    2) So the first thing I did was update my computer, but in the past I've had issues where the graphics driver didn't receive the newest update via Windows and instead I had to go to the manufacturer's website to download it manually.

When I tried doing so this time (Radeon 6770M), I downloaded AMD's Catalyst graphics program or whatnot but it wouldn't let me install it because it wasn't compatible with my software/hardware. Should I just assume Windows Update gave me the most recent or where should I download the most recent driver?

Thanks. Is that guide still accurate? It's been about a year since it was last updated.

I'll post my questions here because they are newbie too :)

So on my desktop I reinstall my Win every 6-8 months to freshen it up.
From all the reading of the forum I understood that the first thing that need to be done when I receive the laptop is MSI.
So after 6-8 months to freshen the laptop do i make another MSI (I mean is MSI formatting the C:/ ? like the usual reinstall of Windows?
Or when I need to freshen up the OS can I use the Recovery DVD's?

Using the recovery DVD's is optional, since there's a Recovery partition on your hard drive (unless, of course, you get rid of it) which contains the recovery media. Recovery DVD's are just an extra precaution for if your hard drive gets corrupted or if you delete the recovery partition.
