So does anyone else find it ridiculous that the dv7 series doesnt offer a 1920x1080 screen? I want a 17'' soon and cant believe they still dont offer one with full HD res. I also dont want the dv8 as its kinda huge.....

Yeah, unfortunate but ever since the HDX and Envy's came out, HP stopped offering high res screens with the Pavilions. Most likely to push people to purchase the more expensive models.

Anyone who would spend that kinda money on a notebook with no optical drive is a nut! But seriously...I have the DV7T and I wanted 1080p as well but most companies are just not offering it now. The screen is gorgeous...you won't regret getting it...and hey at least it's 900p AKA 720p...it's still HD!

Yeah I agree I was surprised at this also when I started looking into getting a 17 inch for xmas 09, I believe other Manufacturers offer 1080P. I have held off for now hoping that they will soon start offering USB 3.0 ports in their 17 inch + notebooks.

Do they still make the HDX line? I dont see it so why shouldnt the pavilions have full HD screens.

Isn't the Pavilion the mainstream line now whereas the Envy is high end?

Then again, the DV8 is by no means "Mainstream", as huge as it is.

Eitherway, you're only finding HDX's through ebay or somewhere on HP's site where they sell the refurbished models.
