    HP Pavilion dv6568se
    Windows Vista (32-bit)

The screen only lights up when Windows starts. I cannot see any startup screens such as the HP Logo or any options such as press F1 for this or F2 for that. Using an external monitor works fine and I can see all the normal screens prior to and including the Windows startup screen. I have tried a different display inverter board - same problem. Any ideas?

Disconnect the internal screen. You'll need to take the screws out of the bottom, and pry up the piece with the volume control/speakers on top... the screen connector is usually on the left side (accessed from the top of the laptop), but might be on the right (depends on model). Disconnecting the internal screen will allow an external monitor to be used for BIOS functions, etc via the VGA or HDMI connections.
