So that is the case with me. No matter what i do the HD Temperatures just refuse to show up. What do I do?

mattireland It used to be the iLand..
Maybe your hard disk doesn't have a temperature sensor in it? I'd imagine the HP Pavilion would though?
-
make sure you run it as administrator

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Try a different software like
http://www.pbus-167.com/
See if it can read.If not it might be the sensor. -
Use the search feature and you should find some of the threads that discuss why certain HP motherboards/firmware don't allow reporting of HD temps. A workaround is posted but it is not easy to do.

I have searched the Forums time and time again and even run the HWMonitor application as an administrator. Still no temps. Any help will be highly appreciated.

The reason why I want these temps is because I just got a BSOD while playing a game. The GFX Card temps were a mere 80 C. The BSOD was a surprise and I am pretty sure that the HD is the culprit behind it!

Try HD Tune and remember you can edit your posts, no need to triple post.

keep in mind nvidia drivers caused the majority of crashes in Vista
double check your undervolting stuff too -
I didn't save the link for the thread here on NotebookReview that went into all the details for why so many of the HP boards don't work with HD temp monitoring programs, but that thread did direct me to the following link which addresses the issue with my particular notebook and motherboard that uses the Nvidia chipset (your laptop may use a different chipset though, so you may need to keep researching to find the particulars on it):

rado did you install the intel chipset drivers? theres two of them

Interesting workaround, but I'm a bit hesitant to try this. Basically I'd be going from an nVidia Vista sata driver to a generic or XP ide driver? Aside from the possible performance hit, I'd be worried about instability.
Thanks for posting the info though.
At least I know now it is not HP's fault that my hd temp can't be read.
