I think one of the most frustrating things about this laptop is not being able to find bags to transport it in. Just who's job is it to supply bags for these behemoths? The laptop manufacturer? The computer bag industry? It's a shame HP and other 18" laptop manufactures didn't take this into consideration and place this glaring omission higher on their list of accessories.
Until my web ordered backpack arrives (I would have preferred a messenger bag) I'm stuck with having to transport my laptop around in a shopping bag.![]()

i have also noticed that laptop skin makers dont make any skins for the new HDX models... i wish i could find some might be worth a try

HP and other 18" laptop manufacturers are going to have to start including carrying cases/bags along with these laptops. They're just entirely to large to move around safely without them. You've got to carry it longitudinally and like a cake, and hope no one runs into you.

Thanks to the recommendation by others, I purchased the Targus XL backpack.
Features
It's sold as a bag that fits up to a 17" laptop. However, I can say for sure that the HDX 18 will fit nicely inside. In fact, there's at least a half an inch of additional space. This is also a bag that/s designed for students as it has a variety of pockest and storage compartments. Although I notice the glaring omission of a quick access key hook.
Comfort/Style
The bad news is that the bag only comes in one color (blue) and although it is not that unattractive, it doesn't do much as far as comfort. So unless you're a well seasoned althlets, or have hung on to that military hardcore attitude, I wouldn't expect that you will be carrying it around for too long. Still, if you're in a pinch (l was using a shopping bag) it gets the job done.
I still wish Targus had done a better job on the suspension system, since any amount of weight--that includes the HDX 18--will cause it to cut into your shoulders. I also think they should have offered it in more than one color. (Red and gray perhaps?)
Quality
I think the quality of the bag is about medium level, buy for a bag of this size, it could be better: some people might want to use it as a daypack. As it is, just be careful you don't get carried away and over fill it as I suspect that would drastical reduce it's useful like. That's assuming your back doesn't go first! -

Buyer Beware
I'm sorry to report that after just one week of use my brand new Case Logic messenger bag has started to come apart. I had been using the bag to carry my laptop and accessories (mouse, power brick, accessory cords) when an unfortunatel thing happened. It seem the laptops weight proved too much for the bags shoulder strap stiching.
These are not clamps, but only a single line of stiching. Today I leaned over to get a drink from the fountain and I heard the stiching pop. I almost ignored this thinking it was merely the bag shifting. However, much to my dismay several loops of the stitching had broken.
Once I noticed this, I checked the other side and indeed those stitches were broken as well. For risk of the straps breaking and my laptop crashing to the floor, I'll have to transfer my laptop back to my Targus backpack until I can find a solution to this. Perhaps a shop that can hopefully restitch the straps, or clamp it back together?
It would seem that the Case Logic was not a very good deal after all -
