    I'm using HP pavilion dv6700 special edition. I noticed that whenever I open internet explorer and it is the active window then On-screen volume display doesn't appear. It increase or decarese the volume but it doesn't display. But, when windows explorer is the active window or the on the Desktop it displays it.
    Has anyone else noticed it and is it supposed to be like that, and why does it do like that, what's different about IE?
    I haven't tried while using other softwares, but it does it atleaset with IE.

    I'm not sure as to why that happens, but when the volume display shows up, does your computer lag?

    No, it doesn't lag.
    Has anyone else noticed it. I also have hp dv6500t, and it doen't show volume meter at all. Does it suppose to show or only on special edition?

    Is it really that big of a deal? Can't you measure the volume by using your ears? oO;

    It's much easier to see the volume level on the screen than to listen it carefully every time you are increasing/decreasing the volume.
    Does it show on dv6500 notebooks? and if it does, then does it show when IE is the active window?

    I have a dv2700 and when i'm on the IE and push the volume up or down button, the volume level shows up on mine. Plus I'm not using the special edition of mine.

    I have posted this before but without the search function available I can't find any of my original posts to link to. Sorry for posting the same info several times.

    You don’t have to uninstall any software to get rid of the on screen Volume Display.

    1. Click the Vista start icon, bottom left.
    2. Type RUN in the Start Search box, ENTER.
    3. Type MSCONFIG in the OPEN: area, Click OK.
    4. Click on Continue if asked.
    5. Select the StartUp Tab in the System Configuration menu.
    6. Remove the Checkmark from the HP Quicktouch On Screen Display item.
    7. Click on OK and Restart if required.

    Reverse above procedure to restore to original if desired.
