I have my new Envy 14 connected to a 23" HP monitor via HDMI. It's nice that the audio is transmitted through the HDMI to the HP monitor speakers, unlike my old laptop. However, I like to have my laptop connected to my logitech speakers. I am not getting any sound from my logitech speakers or headphones. I've tried adjusting the beats audio control panel to use speakers and headphones or independent headphones to no avail. Is there any other settings to change to make this work?

Try this. Right click the little speaker icon (where you adjust the volume) in the bottom right corner of the desktop and click playback devices. Right click speakers and headphones and set as default.

This seems to work for me.

EDIT: on my older computer you had to restart the program if it was open before you set headphones as default for it to work. May be the same on the envy so do this before you open whatever video playing program you use just in case.

    Wow!...I am a complete idiot.

I had my laptop closed since it was hooked up to my monitor and it was on mute the whole time. Weird tho, it didn't show it on mute down in the corner since it was hooked up via hdmi audio out.

Thanks for the help anyways, all is working fine now.
