So I've had some minor quirks with my dv9000t before, but this one just breaks the system.

My Vista dv9000t, after watching movies in WMP with my headphones, has not allowed me to hear audio out of my normal speakers. I've played around with changing the default audio devices, done a system restore, and have reinstalled the Venice audio driver twice. No go. Any idea what might be wrong? Any ideas before I contact HP?

My dv9008nr did that once for me too. I had to remove the device from the system, reboot and let the system find and reinstall the sound device. If you already did that you can check the mixer on the volume control and make sure it's not muted. My headphones were ok but the Windows application slider was muted.

Try to rollback the driver to the previous version. Try to put the headphones plug again and remove quickly. Maybe something jammed in a jack. There is a switch inside.

I would either rollback the driver or install/reinstall the one that is on hp.com. They released a new driver (a couple of months ago) for XP that fixed this exact issue but its not listed under vista.
