Only , 256, 512 (2 sticks of 256) or 2 GB for an additional $625! What the @#$%?!? They've also changed some of the other options. Still no 256 MB X800 GPU. I wonder what this will do to the options available via Best Buy's configuration options they offer.

Also, as of last weekend, the 7000 was removed from their site, so the prices on those may start to drop at CompUSA, BB, CC, etc., where available.

They've also dropped the 80GB 5400 rpm hard drive and added the 60GB 7200 rpm hard drive as a $125 upgrade from the 60GB 4200rpm hard drive[?]

Keith, you say in your original post "Still no 256 MB X800 GPU" as if this is going to be offered as an option. Do you know for a fact that the X800 GPU will become an option, or are you just speculating? If this will in fact happen, how do you know? I've asked HP this same question, but haven't gotten any response.

    Thanks!

    Rayt,

Just speculation/wishful thinking at this point, although when I called HP a couple of weeks ago, a sales guy said that you could get it over the phone (I didn't place an order at that time). That's not the same answer others on this forum have gotten though.

I'm going to Best Buy today to see if their configuration options have changed and compare.

Update: Not surprisingly, Best Buy's kiosk configure-to-order options have also changed along with HP's. According to the rep I spoke with, BB will upgrade the memory and cover it as part of the system warranty if it's upgraded at the time it's ordered.

Thanks for clarifying Keith. I've made up my mind to go ahead and order one today. Good luck with your purchasing decision.

I was told (in an e-mail reply to a complaint about this issue) that the RAM and 80 GB 5400 rpm hard drive option that disappeared was due to supply problems, but why not at least offer a one-stick, 1 GB option if you can offer two sticks of 1 GB in a 2 GB option?
