As the title say's ....just got finished with a couple of rep's on HP chat, and they seem oblivious to the fact of any new s/b envy 14's.
Looks like just the envy 17's got them...
Hope i'm wrong or the rep's are...

Take anything CSRs say with a grain of salt...or in this case, a truckload of it.

Haha, this thread cracked me up.

The chat people are very knowledgeable in certain areas. But in a large business like HP, it's hard for them to know everything they should know.

Lol, this is a major product for HP and their support staff is completely clueless. HP support staff are really some of the most ill informed support agents. Basically just spread misinformation.

I know what everyone has said, so take it with a grain of salt...

Session Started with Agent (Lanie B.)
Anthony: "Will there be an "ENVY Refresh" on June 15th like the rumors suggest?"
    Anthony: "Hello Lanie"
Agent (Lanie B.): "Thank you for contacting HP Home & Home Office Store Chat Support. My name is Lanie. How are you doing today, Anthony?"
Anthony: "I am well, how are you?"
Agent (Lanie B.): "It’s nice to know that. Today’s a lovely day for me. Thank you for asking."
Agent (Lanie B.): "I understand that you would like to inquire on an HP Envy Refresh."
Agent (Lanie B.): "Am I correct?"
Anthony: "Glad to hear it. As the initial question suggests, I am curious about an ENVY Refresh"
Anthony: "My current TX2000z isn't keeping up with my workload, and would like to upgrade. However, I don't want to buy something if it is on the cusp of an upgrade"
Agent (Lanie B.): "I see. I would be more than happy to assist you and clarify this matter."
Agent (Lanie B.): "If I may ask, Anthony, where did you find the news about an HP Envy Refresh?"
Anthony: "Thank you. I'm tired of sifting through rumors and false information. I figured I'd talk to the source"
Anthony: "The forums at "NotebookReview.com", as well as "Engadget.com""
Anthony: "I can provide links if you'd like..."
Agent (Lanie B.): "Thank you. I would certainly appreciate that."
Agent (Lanie B.): "I'm currently checking on it. So far, we don't have any updates about the HP Envy Refresh but if you can provide me with the links, it would be great."
    Anthony: "http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/582661-no-new-sandy-bridge-envy-14s.html"
    Anthony: "http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/577022-envy-14-sandy-bridge-june-15-a.html"
    Anthony: "http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/09/hp-unveils-the-pavilion-dv4-envy-14-with-sandy-bridge-and-a-re/"
Agent (Lanie B.): "Thank you, Anthony. I'm on one of the links that you provided."
Agent (Lanie B.): "Will it be find if I place you on hold for one to two minutes while I check on it?"
Anthony: "no problem, CNET Asia also reported something, I'm in the process of trying to find that link as well"
    Anthony: "no problem at all"
Agent (Lanie B.): "Thank you, Anthony."
    Anthony: "http://asia.cnet.com/crave/hp-envy-14-gets-sandy-bridge-update-62208553.htm"
Agent (Lanie B.): "Thank you for patiently waiting, Anthony."
Anthony: "Not a problem at all"
Agent (Lanie B.): "I checked on the information here. I'm sorry, we don't have any updates yet with our product and reseach development team."
    Anthony: "Darn, that's a shame."
Agent (Lanie B.): "It was good though that you chatted with us. I checked with two departments earlier, and they both informed me that we don't have any updates on an HP Envy Refresh."
Anthony: "Is there any possibility of getting a current ENVY 14 with a Radiance screen?"
Agent (Lanie B.): "As to that, I would admit that a lot of customers want the radiance screen. Unfortunately, we don't have any updates as well if we will have the radiance screen again."
Anthony: "Is there anything in the works with another manufacturer to provide higher resolution screens?"
Agent (Lanie B.): "You can take a look at another HP model though."

Then more of her trying to sell me on another notebook...yada yada yada, blah blah blah...

I tried the "Inquisitive, nice guy" approach...nothing.

Like I said, truckload of salt...

Either agents truly are as ignorant as they make themselves out to be or companies tell them to deny any knowledge of refreshes in an effort to get rid of older models/sell other models .

I didn't have all my ducks in a row when I started the session. Had a couple of other things going on as well...definitely would have been a good link to send...

I'm tired of waiting the lack of info and rumors running around...not to mention the lack of accessories for the first gen. HP needs to get it together with this line.

I thought we already established that ALL reps don't know much!!! They only know about the current models, deals, devices because that's what they're trained for.
The representatives not getting paid the highest salary so why bother to learn all the new models/speculations? They already have to handle A LOT OF CALLS/MESSAGES each day. Stop calling them ignorant... what rep would spend his/her time learning all the future stuff, hang out at NBR, and still be happy at his/her job?!

Why do people keep asking questions that they know they won't get!?!?!? SANDY BRIDGE ENVY 14 WILL COME.

    srry huge rant

I'm almost completely sure that the rep knows that an update is coming down the pipeline. The agent carefully picked her words to hide that fact. After all, she gets paid when she sells a laptop to you. Thus, she has nothing to gain from encouraging you to buy an Envy some indeterminate time in the future.

Just to share a little experience with a sony rep. That should give you an idea of what to think of this.

I wanted to buy a nice, small laptop back in March and was looking at the Sony Z. However, I had seen a lot of rumors that the sandy bridge (Sony SB) was about to come out and be ready for order.

Since I work in a large organization in the UK, I was directed to deal with a "senior business account manager" from Sony. At least that was the title of the guy on his email.

I asked for a quote on a Monday, and specifically asked him if he knew anything about the new SB coming out and if I would be better to wait a couple of weeks. He told me he had no idea about when new models would come out, and that I should place my order quickly for the Z because they were very limited on stock.

So I placed the order on the Tuesday and sent the PO on Wednesday. That Friday, the SB came out and was available as CTO on the Sony website.

I find it really hard to believe a "senior account manager" had no idea those coming out that same week. I think those sales people just want you to buy whatever NOW.

Common business trick: invent titles. Within the company, they can be low as dirt. But when they email you and they put things like "Director in Charge of Sales in Northeast Region" that sounds impressive.

    Exactly.

My point being regarding this thread: don't believe anything a rep tells you regarding new models coming out soon or not. They want to sell you something. Now.

I'd expect a press release about it and assume that just changing internals and not the case design caused heat issues or something. However it just seems like the rep didn't know like he/she was talking about. You should have asked to talk to someone higher up to find out the scoop.

    This.

Few years back I did a 12 month tour in one big-ish phone manufacturer support and only product information we were allowed to give out were things readily available in manufacturer's own website. Basically we were just enhanced google site search for those who couldn't type or read :p

"can't tell if other brand products are compatible"
"can't say how to do thing x, if it isn't described in manual".

I did my best trying to convince people but when my advice was like: you can do google search with "these exact words" to find the answer. People still wouldn't do it and find the correct answer I wasn't allowed to say aloud. Lucky me I don't do direct customer support anymore.
